Hi Marc, No ABC release today about yesterday's General Hospital event. Seems like that says something without saying anything since they've promoted everything else this week (even Jimmy Kimmel's #'s). Guess they didn't get the 27 million that L&L got for their 1st wedding. Is anything going to happen at ABC Daytime with all 3 of their soaps doing so badly for so long? Sweeney was supposed to be such a big "soap fan" but you can't tell that from looking at her boy Brian's line-up. How much longer can ABCD continue like that? Thanks!

Hi CouchTomato: No...I wouldn't worry too much about ABC's soaps. The other networks are also feeling the erosion in daytime and I doubt ABC will do anything drastic. As for yesterday's GH event (which could have done better), here is the results: -Luke & Laura Still Pack a Ratings Punch: Based on the fast nationals, ABC’s General Hospital, featuring the 25th reunion of Anthony “Luke” Geary and Genie “Laura” Francis rose to 4.0 total million viewers on Thursday, Nov. 16. Comparably, that was General Hospital’s biggest audience since June 2006. It was also the No. 1 daytime show for the week among women 18-49 (1.30 million: up 11 percent from its season to-date average) and female teens (71,000: up 53 percent).

Hey marc, could you please break The OC's ratings to half hours (or even 15 minutes bits)?
Thanks!

Hi ilan. The O.C. averaged 3.78 million viewers in each half hour according to the fast nationals (don't have the 1/4 hours).

Is it possible that Shark's losing half of CSI's audience simply because people don't want to watch two crime shows in a row?
My g/f & I tried to watch 3 lbs after House, & my g/f said she couldn't sit through two shows that similar one after the other.
Not that I think Shark is that similar to CSI, but they are both essentially crime dramas.

It's interesting that last week CSI actually came out on top in viewers in the final count (but that story got missed because of DWTS and DH). I'm a bit perplexed by NBC's decision to air a two-hour DOND on Thanksgiving. Although I recognize, they want the big family ratings and it's still sweeps -- it's very short-sighted. They just revamped the "Must-See Comedy Night" this week. What a perfect opportunity to continue it when a lot of people are watching in groups, etc. who may not know about it. Instead, they have to reintroduce the two-hour comedy block again the following Thursday. Too bad. NBC should be happy with the Monday edition of DOND and the audience it gets for Heroes. I'm just sayin'. LOL

People (eventually) sat through CSI and Without a Trace... those are very similar as far as crime genre goes.

I would not rule Shark out given how much Without a Trace initially dropped out of CSI. My only concern is that is seems to skew much older than CSI.

Not sure if anyone's already put this if they have I apologise in advance. Going by that Smallville rating it would make it the #1 program on the CW this week (unless 7H pulls a rabbit out of its hat on Sunday). Some gossip a day keeps the doctor away.

Thanks, Marc. I appreciate you getting those numbers. As far as the daytime erosion, I think the quality of daytime shows has deteriorated quite a bit, but ABC's line up in particular has deteriorated in quality. ABC soaps used to be at the top of the ratings. The last few weeks the only show AMC and OLTL are now beating is Passions, and if it wasn't for Genie Francis' return, GH would be down there with them. I think they need to get rid of Brian Frons, as his micromanaging of ABC soaps has seriously hurt them and ABC has seen a huge erosion of their shows since he began his tenure. They also need to replace the current head writer of GH, as a lot of fans have been gradually tuning out due to his character and couple destruction and lack of consistent writing and retconning or changing things constantly, whether they happened twenty years ago or twenty minutes ago. GH is just a mess right now, as all of ABC's soaps are, and they need some major changes or soaps will die out soon. Thanks again, Marc.

I think CSI did well last night because it actually looked more like classic CSI from the first few seasons. Catherine, Nick, and Warrick were actually in the episode. Grissom and Catherine actually worked and talked to each other for more than 30 seconds. The shock of it all. Plus the case was very intriguing. Regarding Shark's numbers, Without A Trace got similar numbers in its first season so I don't think that CBS is disappointed. Moving WOT to Sunday night gives them a better position than the old Sunday night movie did even though its numbers are down a bit. Meanwhile, CBS gets to build another show following CSI.
See what all those NUTS! were about, watch Jericho this Summer Fridays 9pm Eastern/8pm Central on CBS!

Hey Marc, did you know that The Young and The Restless is doing better than most shows on The CW on a daily basis? At least one day a week it's getting close to 6 million viewers! That's pretty good, don'tchathink?

Marc, I don't agree at all. Family Guy needs to be followed up with another animated show or something like Malcolm in the Middle was the first season or two. I can't imagine Family guy viewers want to watch a bitter, old couple and hopeful young couple argue in painfully unfunny ways. Obviously, that's my humble opinion. I thought Brad was hilarious on Raymond because he was clearly the least favorite/least appreciated son, so he was justified in lashing out. Lashing out in 'Til Death is just ugly.

I agree BrianWink!! I agree! quote: Originally posted by BrianWink: God, this drives me crazy. 30 ROCK was at the top of its game last night, and was a perfect companion to THE OFFICE. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Once again, Nielsen viewers across America have let me down.

The absence of Deal or No Deal in the time period also helped CSI. quote: Originally posted by JangoBear: I think CSI did well last night because it actually looked more like classic CSI from the first few seasons.
