abc had better rethink its game plan for thurs. Big shots is dragging them down. I would definitely have a special screening of Womens Murder club after Greys to see if it sticks, cause right now nothing seems to be able to seemlessly glide out of Greys. abc needs to take advantage of what hits it has and capitolize on their lead-ins.

DOND had more viewers in that slot last year. Greys and CSI are both down. The hour is much easier.

I'm not sure where you're coming that the competition was easier. The Office was added on, so, no, the competition got harder.

That is Big Shot's only advantage. As long as it pulls in competitive demo numbers, which it has, ABC is going to stick with it. It almost won the time slot in demos this week.

I don't know if anything fits well out of Grey's Anatomy.

So, all you super CW fans still going to claim that the CW needs to cancel Gossip Girl? SPN didn't do a whole lot better last night.

Office had less week-to-week drop than either of the big two in the hour. Looks like it will sustain a very healthy third in that hour.

Was Trace always a show that only retained 60% in the demo from CSI? That seems pretty disappointing. Even viewer retention around 70% seems unspectacular, considering the struggles of BS and ER.

NBC's got to be pretty happy about the 30 Rock start... can't complain about a series high. But we'll see how much of that was Seinfeld.

Not much to say about Big Shots, except the retention didn't get a whole lot worse, even if there was a big overall decline. Pretty soon ABC's going to end up with yet another #3 viewers, #3 demo show leading out of Grey's, which is not good.

I wonder if the Thursday shows (10pm specifically) suffer more from DVR delayed viewing than other nights. The whole hour is down. It would make sense... why stay up late on a work/school/whatever-night when you can wait one day and watch over the weekend?

Like I mentioned above, the overall amount of viewers is down. The Office is performing worse than DOND did last year. Greys and CSI are down. The only increase came from Lyrics and that isn't a hit by any standards. The numbers are worse regardless of how the Supernatural clan tries to spin it.

Supernatural definitely underperformed because the timeslot is much easier than before, and I'm not buying this it was free on i-Tunes nonsense. Its down by just as much as anything else. Smallville's ability to keep viewers interested after all these seasons deserves kudos. Fox continues to see year to year gains.

Supernatural underperformed because the time slot is much easier than before?. You mean harder?. What with the added The Office being an hour and the usual two killer shows, CSI and Grey's.

I don't understand why ER has been labeled a loser every Thursday the past couple seasons. Even when it had a weaker lead-in last season, it still had the stable demo numbers it still has. It seems like ER has a stable solid core following in a competitive timeslot, so why get rid of it especially when its numbers are still better than the most of NBC's other shows?

UGLY BETTY seems to be putting up the numbers it had at the end of last season, so it seems like the audience has stabilized. Which is probably disappointing to ABC after the hype of the Emmys.

That will probably end up saving it.

Being on at 9 is a killer, but will that continue to be livable for the CW as you say?. That's a 960,000 drop from the last year's premiere's final number(3.93 million). Do you think things will get any better once The Office is no longer an hour?. Supernatural is the CW's best show, not that there is a lot to choose from, so they should do whatever they can.

4.56 million is still pretty positive for Smallville. If it stays steady and consistent, there is no doubt in my mind that there will be a season 8. What else has the CW got?.

Some of the bigger shows may be down somewhat, but those ratings are still big and big enough to hurt a smaller show on a little network. Plus, The Office. The Office isn't a big ratings horse, but that is another show added to the mix. The time slot is definitley not any easier.

Um...I have to disagree. SN timeslot is not easier. IT got tougher with NBC putting the Office at 9pm. Here is SN competition...

CSI, GA, Don't forget the Lyrics and the Office, which was an hour long last night. That is over 47 million viewers altogether...that SN has to deal with.

It is not an easier time slot.

Peace!!

ER isn't a loser, but it needs to retire already. Its bringing in about 1/3 of the audience it had at its peak. Viewers are simply sick of it.

Yes. SN did better in viewers and demos, not to mention it's less expensive to produce. Not to mention the high ad cost of GG over SN.

Gossip Girl was given much more press than Supernatural. In the end how much money you put into the show should yield the equivalent results. No one expected Supernatural to pull more than 3 million viewers in that timeslot, however most people expected Gossip Girl to pull around 4 million.
