It did not happen last spring for sure.

It happened before. What about the TWO-HOUR PREMIERE of AI and DWtS? What about DWtS and AI when few competitors are left the show gets shortened into an hour (and they give the competitors 2 challenges) but sometimes if few competitors are left the show limits into 1 & 30 mins. So it happened before.

I think Jim Parsons from BBT is worthy of an Emmy.

The fact that you wrote that pretty much reflects that you didn't watch the first few minutes of HIMYM.

Hear hear.

I think I laughed more during BBT, but I enjoyed HIMYM more. I'm glad HIMYM took this episode to really push forward with the "Ted finds the Mother" plotline, which got really sidelined by his dating Robin all last season and by the fallout of their breakup the in fall section of this season (not that I watch the show to find out who the Mother is and how Ted met her... but it's important that the people running the show do more than pay lip service to the premise of the show, and the post-strike return was the perfect opportunity).

mushu_jj, if you can't laugh at the HIMYM gang making green dress puns at Barney's expense on St. Patrick's Day... I'm not sure there's hope for you!!!

Ah, ok. I still think this schedule makes for a lousy lead-in chance for Eli Stone. Desperate Housewives and Lost are both lousy repeaters so it gives Eli Stone 2 horrible weeks of lead-in and one out of timeslot airing (should bring higher ratings, but is likely to lose some of the 'core viewers') as a finish.

Flops
ABC: Carpoolers, Cavemen, BS, CM
NBC: Journeyman, BW, LJ
CBS: Captain, Cane, VL
FOX: Canterbury, KVille, NA, B2Y, NGAB, Nashville, JJ, Unhitched
CW: CW

Feel free to add anything I missed, but that is an impressive collection of flops for FOX.

Edit: how could I forget VL? Big Grin

Reluctant as I am to utter it, I shall concede that MyNetworkTV had its share of flops this season to add to Zitrones list, but it's not a very lengthy list, and that is due to the cautious skill that Mr. Meidel has followed in patiently programming and building the network up from its doomy days of despair of last winter:

MNT: NFL Network Total Access, Control Room Presents

For The CW: I won't call it the whole CW.

HITS
The CW - "Smallville," "America's Next Top Model," "One Tree Hill" and the soon-to-be-exiting "WWE Friday Night SmackDown!"

FLOPS
The CW - the rest of The CW shows except the list above.

GOOD PERFORMERS (by MNT Standards)
MNT - None.

I think you have to add Supernatural to the non-flop catagory for the CW. It has consistent ratings in a tough timeslot and has outperformed OTH (which you put on your hit list) some weeks

I has NOT happened before, save for a couple of minutes of overlap AI has tried occasionally. ABC has gone out of its way to avoid head-to-head with AI, and when they scheduled the premiere, AI was only listed for one hour, followed by House. I remember, because I was looking into it because I wanted DWTS to go head-to-head with AI. It looks like FOX is very confident about AI and waited to list it as a 2-hr episode until ABC scheduled it, so they would be forced to go head-to-head.

What did you guys think of DWTS premiere last night? I thought only a couple of guys were decent, Jason Taylor and Mario, Steve Guttenberg was charming, and Adam Carrolla and Penn Gillette are way too annoying -- as soon as they received some criticism, they buckled and quickly went negative. And judge Bruno was trying to pull as Simon Cowell, because he was way harsher than usual.

But I think this is going to be the season of the ladies -- from the preview, it looks like most if not all of the 6 ladies seem better skilled, and with better personalities that could capture the votes.

But poor 2-time defending champ Julienne Huff, having to be paired by clearly clutsy Adam Carolla -- at least Adam realizes he's not that good. Still, it seems like whoever paired these couples has a sadistic edge, because a couple of the pairs just don't work together.

Can't wait to see what the ladies have in store tonight though...

Look, its not like it was the worst thing I've ever seen but that Barney just drives me nuts. I just don't like the guy. Sorry. I do love Allison Hannigan though and I have seen some half decent episodes before. Its just not my type of comedy. I was never really into Friends either. Enjoy though and I think it finally finding its stride will help out the entire CBS Monday comedy block.

Dancing skews much much older than Idol. It won't be hurt all that much if any. In a few weeks, Hell's Kitchen will be at 9 on Fox so I'm not too worried for Dancing results.

I think the post-DH episode is being used as a last chance sort of deal. If it keeps over half the viewers and pulls a half decent demo, then there may be a future for this show next year. I hope so. Its really a pretty decent show and would make a good midseason replacement for Boston Legal.

Well, OTH has a tougher time-slot and has better numbers than SN. That said, it's hard for me to see any show on CW called a "hit"
