How so? It's ratings last night were no worse than they were in the later time slot.
We'll see in the finals, but i think it'll be lower. And they're worse than HMYM. Now i wonder: whu HMYM gets such a favour? After all is in its 3rd season.

If they did, they wouldn't have bothered to change EPs and put it back into production this Spring. They do want to give it a chance to succeed. If they can give MIT and OR 3,4, and 5 chances, they can give WMC another shot. And it should not even be debatable, as WMC won its Friday timeslot almost every week it had an original episode last Fall.
WMC should've been renewed by now.

Yes, we'll see. But don't think of the time change as a bad thing. It's a vote of confidence in BBT to put it in the lead position so early on. If they're patient, it may actually work. quote: Originally posted by robert: quote: Originally posted by tvismyjob: quote: Originally posted by robert: CBS is managing to ruin their only new show that used to do good: BBT.

It should have, based on its merits, but it doesn't mean it won't. The shows renewed so far as considered 'early' renewals -- typical renewals aren't handed out until these next couple of months. And the strike threw the renewal pattern into a further spin.

I'm sure Big Bang will be fine. If it pulls 8 million or even high 7 million, that's not that concerning. I completely agree about HIMYM. How much love will CBS give this show? And with Britney Spears next week, why not have it be the lead off show to strengthen the whole night? Confusing indeed. Both will be back next year and both are doing fine though imo. The key last night was Christine's solid retention out of 2.5 Men. Good news there indeed. The Bachelor could seriously use a break next fall and let a new drama take over 10pm and utilize the Dancing/SW lead in.

I agree with you. I still think that this timeslot switch is simply a way for CBS to determine if BBT is strong enough to be a lead in...so that HIMYM and BBT can both be used as lead-ins next year. Why is there so much sniveling about HIMYM getting special 'treatment'? It isn't like HIMYM has even been given that cushy spot at 9:30pm following 2&1/2Men firstrun episodes. HIMYM has been put in the more difficult role of leading the 8pm hour for much of its existence.

How do the numbers for the CBS 8 o'clock hour compare to before they were switched?

Maybe this will be the week Medium gets put in the winner's column for beating an original The Bachelor which had the added benefit of the DWTS premiere, and a 28 minute head-start...

Actually, HIMYM has aired behind 2.5 Men the last two summers at some point in an attempt to increase viewership. It never did real hot there and its not like CBS has anything else to lead off the night at that point. My thoughts are that Big Bang will be left to lead off Mondays next year and that HIMYM will move to either Wed. or Sun. along with Christine. Rules will slide up to 8:30 with a new comedy on Monday at 9:30.

I wasn't aware that 2&1/2Men aired any first run episodes over the summer. If BBT is aired after 2&1/2Men this summer, will that end your calls of favoritism?

Marc, the first DWTS eliminations will happen the following Tuesday after 1 more week of performances. And it will be a double elimination -- my picks, your aforementioned Penn Gillette, as well as the clumsy Adam Carolla.
I think the real contestants in danger will be the women who dance from 9-10 tonight when viewership will be much lower because of AI.

It's not going to be much lower -- possibly somewhat lower, but not enough to affect voting. Just because more viewers might have watched Adam Carolla and Penn Gillette struggle on Monday, doesn't mean they'll vote for them. Last night, aside from Monica Seles, the rest of the ladies were really impressive and should have garnered enough votes. At most, it might be a split between one of those two guys and Monica Seles. Regardless, everybody has one more performance this coming Monday before the first double elimination the following Tuesday. The votes and judges scores from this week will be added to those from next week.
