I just read that MyNetworkTV Atlanta will be skedding "Jaws: The Revenge" tonight at 8 pm and tape-delaying the Falcons pre-season game until 10 pm.
No word yet on whether WWOR-NY plans to tape delay the Yankees for a live network feed of "Jaws: The Revenge".
Dumont, I really hope you are joking here and don't really think that WWOR would tape delay a Yankee game to show a 25 year old movie, let alone anything else. Yankee's baseball on WWOR is their top rated programming. Do you understand what type of reaction New Yorkers would have if a Yankee game was televised on tape-delay?
Please tell you are joking and don't think that anything like this is possible...

It's NOT because they want to air a 25 year old movie in its place.

I plead an attempt to be humourous...sorry to any Falcon-Yankee fans who might have been unduly alarmed.
You can always count on dumont for a good chuckle!.
Next thing you know, he'll tell us that FOX will tape delay the World Series games so that they can air the complete series of episodes of "Cavemen".

Besides, I believe Douglas has posted numerous times that Yankee Games usually do better, with just a regional cablecast, than most/all of the National programs by MyTV

With Flashpoint, I think it is a case of a show fitting the network's audience well and the crime audience transferring over to watch the show. Buzz really isn't a good gauge of an audience. Gossip Girl has "buzz" and it still has a terrible rating. Some of the time, the "buzz" is studio or network brought. If I were CBS, I'd give it a 6 episode mid-season run in between Ghost Whisperer and Numbers on Friday and see what happens. I'd also look at cheap procedural options and international partnerships like Flashpoint that they can use as replacements.

I have to say, those are good numbers for Flashpoint. It still manages to grow on CSI's numbers. The only thing I can see is the show has no buzz whatsoever - I see absolutely no one talking about the show at all!-LOL
The only way they should be doing this in the regular season, is if The Ex List fails, which isn't a given, and then they should move Numb3rs up to 9pm and use this afterwards. That to me seems like a bit better flow to the night than having Flashpoint at 9pm. Not to mention, just because people are watching this summer, doesn't mean they will in the regular season.

The agreement to hold the debate was announced earlier in the week. All debates will be in primetime from 9-10:30 PM ET.
Here, via the AP, is the schedule:

Thursday, Oct. 2: The vice presidential debate will be held at Washington University in St. Louis.
Tuesday, Oct. 7: The second presidential debate, at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., will have a town-hall-style format. Moderator Tom Brokaw will call on audience members and pose questions submitted through the Internet.
Wednesday, Oct. 15: The final presidential debate, at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., will center on domestic and economic policy. Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama will sit at a table with moderator Bob Schieffer.
I got overnight data for last night's Men's Beach Volleyball event. Take a look:

In the finals, "Jaws 3" on MyNetworkTV attracted 1.9 million viewers.
After four nights this week, MyNetworkTV is well ahead of The CW, who must now rely upon WWE Friday Smackdown to salvage weak Monday to Thursday numbers.
After four nights of Week 48, MNT is firmly ensconced in fifth place amongst the English-language broadcasters:
5. MyNetworkTV: 1.0HH/2%, 0.67 A18-49, 1.651 million viewers 6. The CW: 0.8HH/1%, 0.44 A18-49, 1.073 million viewers

Perhaps next year the CW should think about doing an OLD movie marathon. I thinkthe Ernest movies are available. Ifnot, there arealways the Naked Gun Movies or the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.
I'm not familiar with MNT ratings. (Congratulations are in order though Dumont...I have finally located the channel on my dish guide).
Is this actually a step forwards for them, or is it just another indication of how poorly the CW is doing? Either way, I'm still awed by the fact that nearly 2 million people wanted to watch a Jaws sequel movie.

I hope CW doesn't ever go the route of dropping real programming in favor of old movie reruns. The CW's forst 4 nights may look weak, but they are in line with CW's summer ratings. Meanwhile, the MNTV ratings this week are almost double what they normally do. Great numbers, but an abandonment of their actual programming. All that does for MNTV is increase costs for the throw away summer Olimpics week. Are people that tuned in for Jaws (likely because they didn't want to watch the Olympics) going to come back for MNTV's regular fare? Not likely. At best, MNTV will have an uptick for their movie nights which will keep costing them 'one off' money in exchange for stable, but zero potential for 'stellar' ratings. That isn't the way to build a network, so I sure hope CW doesn't ever resort to such waste.
