Smallville is CW's highest rated and oldest show. it deserves praise for that. And this year is better then ever now Lana is gone
I think Mondays-Wednesday have over taken the official DOA Thursday nights.
The World Series ratings have surprised the hell out of me. I did not expect the first two games to reach over 9 million viewers. This series has surpassed expectations and the games are good too. Its very possible that MLB doesn't have to rely on the BIG 3 Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs to draw ratings. I think Tampa Bay if they become a dynasty could be a draw similar to the Penguins, Lakers, or Patriots if they continue to reach the WS almost every year.
The 14 million on Wednesday and the 12 million last night surprised me. You can't compare last year's world series ratings to this one. FOX is very happy that it drew over 9 million. This series has a chance to reach 18 million if it goes 6-7 games.
ABC's GA is dying, but stabilizing. Its not the huge powerhouse it once was and will never see that light ever again. Quality wise the show is doing much better this season like its little sister program Private Practice. UB is a complete loser and they just lost the talented Lindsay Lohan.
LOM, has stabilized, which might be a positive if ABC can move it to Wednesday nights after the Country Music Awards. Most shows after GA usually drop a full ratings point every new week.
LOM can be put in the class of procedurals and shows going against CBS procedurals on other networks have lost pretty bad. I would consider trying the 8pm timeslot like FOX has done for Bones for other networks' procedurals. I think they would do good there b/c 10pm is a death slot for other network's procedurals that's why SVU has dropped year to year.
ABC should do this:
WED 8-Life on Mars 9-Lost 10-Dirty Sexy Money or something else
You might say LOM should air at 9pm after Lost, but remember the almighty Criminal Minds airs there. 10pm has the beast of CSI: NY there.
THU 8-Not Ugly Betty 9-Grey's Anatomy 10-Private Practice
NBC message to you, America does not like single-cams on broadcast networks. Kath & Kim would be doing better had it went to the multi-cam format. Wake the hell up!
SNL has given you a clue every week that your successful multi-cam franchise is the highest rated on the block. NBC shouldn't had canceled ER until the network was in better shape. Those numbers are very good.
I will discuss more detail about NBC's proposed schedule from me, CBS, and CW in my Triple Day Column in an hour or two where I will cover Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday ratings analysis.
Greys is doing better than it deserves to do, I'm sure (and so is CSI, which has likewise seen major declines in ratings and quality, but has the advantage that its viewers WANT ceaseless repetition of the same tired stories, year after year).
But a 5.3 in the demo against CSI and The World Series, with a 2.8 lead-in from UB is not too shabby for a show in its fifth season.
Bear in mind, DH is in its fifth season too--premiered a few months before Greys. It got a 5.8 in the demo this past Sunday, out of a 3.6 lead-in, and the football game it was up against only averaged 3.2 in the demo.
DH may have a lot more viewers than Greys does now, but all things considered, Greys is a slightly better performer for ABC.
And that's a problem for ABC.
All I'm saying is that if DH is going to be around for two more seasons, Greys is going to be around for at least that long. And that's too damn long for both of 'em.

Why knew you're gonna defend GA? DH is beating it clearly these days, don't make excuses
Which is your favorite current sitcom on the Broadcast Networks?
I have created a new poll on my PI Feedback Backup blog for you sitcom lovers. Just click the ICON on the left and the Poll is at the top. You can also comment on your selection by commenting on the topic in the Blog post to the left of the poll.

I don't see that happening. I don't know if you have watched any of their home games, but when they play the Yankees and Red Sox, the majority of the fans there are rooting for the visitor. I just don't think Florida has the love for baseball that the east coast does. I just don't see anyone caring for Tampa Bay. Sure you may see a few people in other parts of the country wearing a TB cap like we saw with Colorado, but they would have to be a dynasty for several years - they just do not have the history as other teams do.
Originally posted by KSO: ABC is a mess, GA needs a regime change. Forcing a lesbian duo on viewers ain't gonna bring people back.
Forcing a lesbian duo? I believe many are forced to endure a bunch of breeder couples on every show on network TV, but you don't hear the gay community complaining. Personally, I am very tolerant as to what you do behind closed doors, but please leave it off my TV thank you - my kids don't need to see that.

Yep DH is still a powerhouse with 15-16 million viewers and high demo numbers against a full night of quality television and NFL. GA is just crap and the big fall in the numbers shows that. I would like to see GA against NFL and the sunday line ups. It would fall down like a card house
Originally posted by metal: Maybe The Office is down because of the lack of Jim&Pam. They're the reason many people, me included, like the show. The other characters are annoying and I just tolerate them because of the cuteness of Jim and Pam, they acentuate how special they are. But now that Pam's away indefinitely i'm considering droping the show myself for now at least. There's just too many shows on Thursday.
The Office is truely a great Ensamble comedy. Steve Carrel does a fine job as lead and the Pam and Jim story line gives a different element to it, but the interaction with all the supporting characters is why I really enjoy the series.
As a "Procedural" LOM is pretty weak. Those story lines are pretty elementary.
LOM is trying to be more than just a cop show, but its not sure what ELSE it is. I think thats the reason people seem to be turned off by it. Is it a Sci-Fi show? Is it a Cop Show? is it a Retro Drama? What else is it?
