It was a terrible Saturday night. The winter storms across the midwest may have hurt because a lot of people didn't have power. Luckily, I wasn't one of them and I got to see one of my friend win State Wrestling!

Thanks Marc for the numbers posted while you're on holidays. Enjoy the remainder of your trip.

After 24 days of sweeps, my numbers show CBS still maintaining its lead, despite last nights sub-par number...a 0.9 A18-49 for Jericho...sheesh!...that's CW territory! CBS is still on track to retain the Sweeps demo crown by the end of February:

1. CBS 5.0 (+43% vs 3.5 in 2006)
2. FOX 4.7 (-8% vs 5.1 in 2006)
3. ABC 3.5 (-34% vs 5.3 in 2006)
4. NBC 2.8 (-43% vs 4.9 in 2006)
5. The CW 1.3 (-11% vs 1.4 WB in 2006, +18% vs 1.1 UPN in 2006)

I'm watching the Oscars right now...I thought the Errol Morris opening segment was brilliant.

Ok saturdays are never good. But I think that is definetly one of the worse nights we've seen all season.

The only positive spin I can think of is that Cops and AMW do Ok for FOX - all things considered

Do you think that CBS will hold on even though FOX has two more airings of Idol left?

FOX will triumph by the end of Sweeps, and be ahead of CBS by 0.3 in A18-49.

The only real suspense for me is whether NBC can climb into the 3's. I'm expecting them to finish with a 2.8 in A18-49. If that number proves correct, the result would be the worst A18-49 February Sweeps number for any of the big four networks in the last 10 years...the nearest would be ABC's 3.0 A18-49 in February 2002 (up against the NBC Winter Olympics).

I agree that Idol will carry FOX to victory. The NBC performance is pathetic (should improve slightly now that the ratings disaster Studio 60 has left the schedule).

Tonight's reruns are pretty important to CBS. The Monday comedies will need to do especially well. Ditto for Tuesday and Wednesday stuff, and that is unlikely thanks to Death Star. This is really sad that the freakin Death Star can pull Fox over a Superbowl-fueled CBS. CBS even has decent shows among 18-49! Its just amazing.
I personally, can't wait to see Idol take a hard fall and Fox crash and burn even worse than ABC post-Millionaire.

Even with last Thursdays weak number, The CW averaged 1.45 in A18-49 on Thursdays in February. I think The CW was wise to program encores against the double-whammy of American Idol and the Grey's arc conclusion.

The two nights which have pulled The CW's average down the most have been Sundays and Mondays, and their biggest night is Fridays (averaged 1.65 in A18-49).
