Yeah it is not really the way to compare series.

Harper's Island
It looks pretty good, and similar to Twin Peaks. Unfortunately, it is on CBS and will probably get canceled faster than ML.

Not really, the last episode ratings were:
Lost (ABC) Viewers: 11.40 million (#2), A18-49: 5.0/14 (#1)
So it actually fell in the demo. The show might drop below 10m next year.
I don't think it will drop below 10 million after that season finale
I think Lost is cooked both in the ratings and the writing.
I thought last nights episode was horrible, and incredibly obvious. I believe I said after last year's finale that the dead person was Locke, and that was supposidly the big mystery. The way the 6 were discovered was also predictable.
And I really hope that season 5 isnt about Jack convincing the 6 to get back, to get back in the finale, and then season 6 will be about them back on the island deciding what they want to happen and realizing that the island is the best place for all of them...
Oh, and for the record last nights "mystery for next season" is predicatable too. Locke becomes curious about how to move the island and decides to do that himself..
So, I am not surprised the ratings werent that great and I think they will keep going down in the last 2 seasons..

It's clear the producers were completely empty of ideas since a couple a seasons ago. I mean how ridiculous is this: for 4 years they've kept us guessing how they'll leave the island and now the next 2 years they'll go back to the island for no reason whatsoever. The good thing about last episode was the fact that they basically resolved the whole "mystery" and there is absolutely no reason to come back for the next 2 seasons. I mean who cares if the island is probably an UFO? Cause i guess that's where the show is headed. They'll be lucky if they get 10 million viewers

How so? The writers of Lost have been brave to turn the series completely on it's head, which is what they did in the third season finale. And they did it fantastically. Some bitter, bitter people on this thread. It's not Lost's fault that your series aren't as good. And yes, I know, I'll get the BSG spiel. I like BSG. But to call Lost boring and BSG exciting? The entire point of BSG since the inception of the series has been to get to earth, something that they STILL have not done. BSG's equivalent of Lost would be the ship arriving to earth, only to realize that they have to go back. Unfortunately, BSG is much too plodding for that.
Lost's ratings were fairly stable compared to last seasons (minus the first 6), so the ratings aren't something to worry about. And what it's lost in the overnights compared to last season it's made up in DVR viewers. And that will only increase next season.
Lost is incredible in that it's as much buzzed about now as it was in it's inaugural season. How many dramas can claim that? None in the current context. As for the CSI Miami comparison above, writing those two series in the same sentence is sacriledge. CSI Miami is quite possibly the worst series on the air right now, and I've watched about 10 episodes this season. As for its ratings, do you think for a minute that CBS wouldn't trade it's half of its critically ignored series for the rights to Lost? Of course it would; you can't buy buzz like Lost has.
Regarding the finale ratings, they're pretty much what I expected. ABC really doesn't know what to do with Lost, and that's been particularly evident over the past two seasons with it airing in 4 different timeslots on two nights. And now, airing the finale a week after the tv season ended? Come on ABC, get your act together. Any other network would build a night around Lost, but you toss it around like garbage. No wonder it's lost audience: viewers have no idea when it's airing. The one good thing ABC did do this season was air pop-up repeats. They were actually quite entertaining.
In regards to Lost, if something thinks the show has no where to go, they didn't watch last night's finale. I'm more confused than ever and that's a good thing. Shortened final seasons will be a good way to keep fans interested. I do agree though with fans and ABC's treatment, but hey, at least the show gets promotion. I think it should air Wed. at 9 next January and that PP and DSM can share the 10pm hour. PD can share the 8pm hour with a new drama.
Hello, i have been following this forum with interest for a while now, but only just got a round to signing up to it. it seems to me, that with Lost there is a lot of misinformation surroundings its viewership, especially when it comes to DVR numbers. Thus I have taken the time to trawl few a few websites and compile a list of how it has peformed across its 4th season. While I am a fan of the show, I am not trying to present this information in a negative or positive light. These are just the cold hard numbers.
