First of all i never said that, and secondly one thing is to use that excuse for a rookie show another thing is to use it for the most buzzed show of the season

What ratings drop anyway? Taking one week is meaningless, especially one of those 4 episodes in Spring. I would be curious to see how House average ratings changed from Fall 06 to Fall 07. It actually improved year-to-year some weeks and is still a real hit, two things you sure can't say about Lost.
I live in Italy, so I'm useless for the USA ratings...the important thing for me is that I will watch season 5 and 6 of Lost, here. But in this forum Lost has often been compared to other hits like CSI or House...well, in my personal opinion, Lost season 4 has been better and better, showing how Lost can always be interesting and not boring...while CSI season 8 and House season 4...well, let's face it, they sucked.
That's usually something i hear when the favourite show is doing badly.
Yeah, and frequently your favorite show.
But seriously, people only get riled about their fave losing some ground in the ratings when they're worried about it being canceled.
Far as I'm concerned, Lost's ratings decline was a good thing. Some of it was deserved, because they were padding out the middle. Some of it was people just realizing the show was too hard for them--or finally waking up to the fact that they'd been watching a science fiction thriller for two or three years. Oh horrors.
But either way, I can see them having 32 more eps--frankly, I wish it was less. If ABC wants to shorten the last season even further, it's fine with me. Cut out more of the Kate&Jack schmoopy scenes.
It's going to be so funny when the Lost-bashers start calling me a hater again next fall.
It's going to be funnier when their new pet shows from this past season are all canceled before Lost airs its final finale.
Part of the reason why Last Comic Standing isn't doing well could be that their roster of people they are putting through is mostly made of people who auditioned in seasons before. It's like a rehash of the last few seasons rejects instead of finding new comics.

I watched Lost with about 20 other people. I don't give a fig about the numbers... we were all happy with it.
That's usually something i hear when the favourite show is doing badly. And 12 million for the season finale of the most buzzed show without any competition is really bad. I mean it pulled 1 million more than the series finale of Shark. That says it all
You know, I'm really tired of all the LOST bashing on this forum. Shark's numbers were inflated by NCIS, which got around 14-16 I believe leading into it. LOST's finale aired with a week break in between, and a week after any substantial original episodes of any hit show on the entire network ended (I don't think anyone can count the Memorial Day airing of The Bachelorette or the paltry return of Men In Trees as something that can keep viewers' attention for an entire network).
So as I mentioned last week, Grey's season finale numbers were great, but it was the same week that DH had its season finale on Sunday, and DWTS had its huge 2-night finale (on Monday and Tuesday) -- there was a lot of action on ABC leading up to it.
On the other hand, LOST was stranded on its own more than a week after the regular season officially ended, and for a forum of people supposedly following tv ratings, many appear clueless of the fact that as soon as May sweeps are over, ratings plummet. The fact that LOST built on its season viewer average and stayed within 0.1 of the demo rating of the last original episode is a good thing and is a testiment to the faithful following the show has.
If you think Shark performed the same or better than LOST did, I just hope you are not making any such decisions for one of the networks...
Ratings aside, what does everyone think the format is going to be for Lost's next season? Entirely off Island? Flashbacks? Flashforwards? Are we even going to have any flashes?

I think it's going to be set it two times, both mainly on the island:
- one, the time we have gotten used to, with Locke and the others on the island, picking up where that left off - the other with Jack, Kate, et al returning to the island and showing us what happens then

Hmm, let's see, your signature block with shows you like includes: Cold Case, Law & Order: SVU, L&O: mothership, L&O: Criminal Intent, The Shield, and Moonlight.
Could you possibly favor procedural shows? I don't know, I'm just taking a wild guess.
And I'm supposed to be surprised that you would take CSI:Miami over LOST?

I can handle Jack and Kate. They're doomed. They make each other miserable. There's at least some kind of interesting character dynamics at play. It's the unending Sawyer/Kate angst and true love that's killing me. We all know they're going to end up together. Just get it over with.
