Ok question here. I am just wondering when it comes to Emmy nominations and such, why is it that shows on the CW now and ones formally on The WB and UPN, rarely get recognized? Is it because those networks are considered smaller and their shows are not as gripping as what other networks are showing? Or is it the Emmy voters don't see those networks and shows as deserving of a nomination? I know that some shows do get some nominations...but they are more technical, but when it comes to acting, there are none.
When you are creating shows that are not of interest to those outside the CW's core demo that they are courting, you exclude a large number of Emmy voters from potentially recognizing it. You can't really go by the "size of the network" which I interpret to mean the size of the viewing audience, as a show like Entourage is watched by about as many people as a typical CW show and yet that show does get recognized (and rightfully so!).

So as not to offend anyone, the Emmy clips are sent out in a format that blanks out all the 'bad' words. As a result, Deadwood didn't have any dialog on which to base a nomination.

The idea of the Emmys is to promote the TV business. Therefore, shows that spend the most are going to get rewarded far more than shows that spend the least. After all, the voters have an incentive to encourage their own paychecks to go up.
Thank you Wiseguy. Appreciate it. And you are right, Entourage does deserve the recognition it gets. I guess it would be nice if the CW realized that sometimes it is not all about creating shows to target their core demo. It would be nice for the CW to create a show that would get recognized, but then again, I only think that will happen if a new president takes over the network. That I think will not happen, now or either down the road.
Peace!!

I wonder if not having the entire music video in the broadcast hurt "Let's Go to the Mall". They only had snippets, while the entire music video was featured online.
I had wondered about that too, Travis. That may be the problem.
1) RE last night's programming -- I think the FOX lyrics show is light years better than the NBC lyrics show. Wayne Brady is much more the professional game show host type than is Joey Fatone. (Take the hint, Price Is Right people.)
2) Emmy nominations -- It's great to see Boston Legal getting nominations again. I wish Candace Bergin had been nominated for her role. I absolutely hate to see that tv has gone so far down that the Emmy folks consider 'Two and a Half Men' to be one of the five best comedy shows on tv. 'The Office' and '30 Rock' are clearly the class of the sitcom crowd, imo.
Sorry, but Joey Fatone is the BETTER host and the singing bee is the better show.
I can't believe that the Emmys completely disregarded Matthew Fox, Evangelline Lilly and elizabeth mitchell -- if they even watched the show -- they gave superb performances for any year -- anyone know if they even made it to the top 10?
glad to see Neil Patrick Harris finally getting his due for How I met your mother.
Apparently everyone involved in determining the deserving shows are not elitist snobs.

I don't even like 2&1/2Men, but it is better than The Office or 30 Rock. My Name is Earl is the only NBC sitcom deserving of a nomination.

It'd be quite hilarious if they nominated her in Outstanding Childrens Show.

Apparently you don't read ratings then, do you?
