Thanks Travis for posting the fast nationals. I do wonder though...will Kevin Dillion actually win for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series? I think Entourage is a wonderful show. And does anyone know if this is his first time being nominated for an Emmy?

Peace!!

I don't know, wenart. I think he's hilarious, even if (IMHO) the show has been going downhill since the midseason break of season three.

Gotta say I'm pulling for NPH, expecting Piven to win, and wishing Michael Urie from Ugly Betty got a nod in that category.

FOX Holds A18-49 Lead After Two Weeks of July Sweep

In response to Fred Farrar’s comment from several days back, I am now including all broadcast networks in my roll-up of July Sweep numbers.

2007 A18-49 vs first 14 nights 2006 A18-49
(results weighted for extra hour on Sundays)

Once again this summer, FOX is winning the A18-49 demo by a decisive margin of victory. So far in the July Sweep, FOX has won 9 of 14 nights in the demo.

A18-49	Broadcast	July	July	nightly wins
Rank	Web	2007	2006	%+/-	2007	2006
1	FOX*	2.2	2.2	0%	9	4
2	NBC*	1.9	1.9	0%	2	3
3	CBS*	1.7	1.9	-11%	1	6
4	ABC*	1.5	1.6	-6% 3
5	Univisn	1.4	1.3	8%
6	The CW*	0.8	0.8	0%	2 vs. WB 2006
7	TeleFut	0.6	0.3	100%
8	Telemun	0.5	0.4	25%
9	MNT*	0.5	0.7	-29% vs. UPN 2006
10	ION	0.1	0.1	0% vs. PAX 2006
11	Azteca	0.0	na	- new network
total	11 nets	11.2	11.2	0%
	*7 Eng	8.7	9.2	-5%	14	16
						2 ties

Taken together, the 11 broadcast networks are even to last year in the young adult demographic. The subset of seven English networks are down by 5% on a year-over year basis. Analyzing the A18-49 demo across the broadcast networks:

* While FOX, NBC, The CW (to WB) and ION (to PAX) are steady to last year, CBS, ABC and MNT (to UPN) are all posting year-over-year declines in A18-49, though mostly in the single digit range.
* It is notable that MyNetworkTV is on track towards posting its best sweep results ever, averaging 0.5 so far compared to 0.4 in May, and 0.3 in Nov.06 and Feb.07. On Friday July 6th, the MNT MyFridayNightMovie “Robocop” hit an A18-49 high of 0.8, which tied it for fourth place amongst the English-language networks in the 9-10 pm hour against ABC’s Kyle XY (and besting FOX’s Standoff).
* TeleFutura (TF) must be programming stronger this summer, because the network is up 100% over 2006 in the A18-49 demo. Univision and Telemundo are also both showing year-over-year improvement.

In the traditional households measure, CBS is performing stronger and holds the lead, winning 9 of 14 nights (two ties) so far in households:

2007 Households vs first 14 nights 2006 Households
(results weighted for extra hour on Sundays)

HH	Broadcast	July	July	nightly wins
Rank	Web	2007	2006	%+/-	2007	2006

2	FOX*	3.8	3.8	0%	5	2
3	NBC*	3.8	4.0	-5%	2	5
4	ABC*	3.1	3.3	-6%
5	Univisn	1.7	1.7	0%
6	The CW*	1.3	1.4	-7% vs. WB 2006
7	TeleFut	0.6	0.3	100%
8	Telemun	0.6	0.5	20%
9	MNT*	0.6	1.2	-50% vs. UPN 2006

I'm thrilled to see Boston Legal up for best Drama, missing Brothers and Sisters and Lost in there, though. Matthew Fox was once again robbed of a nomination in a category he should have won. Interesting that Survivor was left off the reality list. All in all I have some favorites in the running, so I'll be excited about watching this year.

So, the entire sum nomination output for The CW and MNT is one lone sound editing nomination for Smallville.

And that equals the sum nomination total for According to Jim.

And no nomination for Ms. Elizabeth Mitchell for Juliet in Lost.

Shame on you Emmy. Shame.

Not suprising that the very OVER-RATED "30 Rock" was nominated 10 times. (Jeers)

Somewhat suprised that "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" got 5 Nominations (Jeers)

Very Nice to see "Deadwood" get 6 Nods (Cheers)

"Top Chef" just may be the show to De-Throne TAR from the Reality Emmy (Cheers)

"Heroes" Getting an Outstanding Drama Nod with its 8 nominations (Cheers)

2.5 Men did well in its Major Categories. Wouldn't mind seeing a sweep from the show.

With all due respect, the no nomination for her is thanks to the popular vote not getting her into the Top 10 for the Blue Ribbon Panel. Which, y'know, really sucky. But the same popular vote also enabled Michael Emerson (totally overlooked last year) and Terry O'Quinn. Maybe she'll get her due next year.

CW played a rerun of a rerun of ANTM all night long. Notice the dip down in ratings at 9:00pm? I'm guessing that viewers peeked over at the dancing results without having to watch the whole show, then returned for more ANTM rather than listening to the singing show.

Given the story that she tells about last year's Emmys (or, as she calls them, the Schmemmys), I'm amused that Kathy Griffin's show is nominated again, along with what seems like the same list of nominated reality shows as last year.
