Idol is the only reason 'Til Death even got considered for a 2nd season.

Big Shots is doing only slightly better, but with a much stronger lead-in series. People just forget to turn off the TV after Grey's, with DSM more people are apparently choosing to watch it.
I still think DSM's numbers are disappointing given the promotional campaign it received (its numbers will decrease this week in finals, Private Practice ran 2 minutes long). And it baffles the mind as to why you schedule a show in prime real estate like Big Shots out of Grey's Anatomy and don't push it in a big way to make people aware of it. They did the same thing with Six Degrees last year. It makes no sense! Especially in a DVR world where you can by and large avoid on-air promos and have to actively choose to record something.
DSM is a disappointment, just not cancellation worthy. And there is no excuse making for Big Shots, the numbers are just awful.

Seems like Bionic Woman's producers are getting their licks in for being forced to hire Isaiah Washington. First episode he's in he's given the gay cliche of walking the little dog on a leash (talking about FEELINGS in a bookshop), second episode he's in he gets his ass kicked (BITCH!). What will they do to him next week?

If Idol airs where it aired last season, DOND won't be up against it most weeks. quote: Originally posted by Obveeus: quote: Originally posted by starbase135: Regarding DOND: Winning it's timeslot al season? Against American Idol???
I forgot about Idol Wednesdays. I guess DoND will have to settle for 2nd place then, if Idol does indeed return to Wednesday rather than FOX plunging into Thursday with it.

But I think people are complaining just as much about aspects of the show they don't like - and they should be allowed to - as they are complaining about the mentality that disliking the critically acclaimed show is sacrilege (I, for one, find the narration grating... it's a lazy writing technique, no matter how specific, loquacious, or to-the-second-of-death the narrator is).
Just because something is different doesn't mean it's good (or bad). This particular brand of different isn't to some people's tastes, apparently, and they get increasingly vocal about their dislikes when they are being called out as narrow-minded or whatever simply because they don't like it.
In short, and for allegorical example, being white and not liking a particular black person doesn't make you a racist or white supremacist or something. It means you don't like that person.
Travis, I am deeply moved. You have perfectly summed up the thoughts and feelings of everyone who ever hated Veronica Mars. I feel so very close to you now. No, not in that way.
pisher, I thought you only came here during your job, so I am guessing you dont really read books or go out anyways, its not a surprise that you hated veronia mars, I guess you just hate good tv in general

CBS did win the 1st Thursday on the season. Also, I would hardly call them "dominant" on any night of the week. quote: Originally posted by dumont: quote: Originally posted by lopez: Kudos for ABC for taking risks on Wednesdays.
They're winning now Mondays, Wednesdays, Thurdsdays and Sundays on 18-49.
Plus, ABC won one of the first two Saturdays, and should win most of those nights through the fall until college football ends. So ABC is now dominant on five nights of the week. Where is CBS dominant anymore?

Isn't it just a detective show in which the dead victims get interviewed? Oh, and lots of cutesy over-producing?
And that gets beyond irritating. I watched the premiere before the second episode started. So I immediately watched the episode and was bored beyond belief. I don't see how this show will last.
see, this is exactly what I mean, you hate the show because the voiceovers drive you nuts, but the voiceovers are meant to be different so they could tell the show as if it was a fairytale, I mean why doesnt anybody just complain about greys voiceovers, I mean I love the show but the voiceover feels unnecessary, but that doesnt make me hate the whole show, and you said that because this guy Dumont likes it, you suddenly dont, this is what I mean, people are influenced by other people

My only question is why is there an award show based on portraying torture on TV? quote: Originally posted by lost_fan: http://www.humanrightsfirst.org/us_law/etn/primetime/award.aspHuman Rights First has nominated these 5 tv shows for realistic portrayal of torture on tv (not kidding) LOST The Shield The Closer Boston Legal Criminal Minds

I doubt that will happen. Dancing isn't going anywhere and I don't think ABC will move it to Monday at 10 pm.

I think The CW has no choice but to see it through. And remember, the Week 2 ep was rebroadcast, and the Week 3 ep was not, undoubtedly accounting for some of the viewer growth. quote: Originally posted by Texas Bound: Just a little comparison and food for thought on Gossip Girl:
Week Total 18-49
1 3.50 1.6/4
2 2.48 1.1/3
3 2.75 1.2/3
4 2.87 1.3/3
So even though the large drop after the premier, it has trended up each week in both total viewers and demo. And with the reported high volume online viewer in addition to high level sales on iTunes, I can start to see where they are coming from. Even more so if they are really getting high 12-24 female demos they like to have.

quote: Originally posted by WelcomeToK-Ville: Whether it's true or not, I think Jericho has the general perception of being a "loser" or "underachiever". Whenever you go to boards, the general feeling is why is Jericho still on? There's no buzz for it coming back. CBS isn't going to heavily promote it. It's going to fill a spot and then come off it as quickly as it came. FNL is in the same position as Jericho but at least it has the media backing it. Even with that, FNL hasn't had exceptional numbers, just good enough to stay afloat on Fridays.
Jericho was in the low 2 demo ratings at the end of last season. It was a dead show and CBS brought it back to please a few fans. After this season, it will just be a dead show.

No doubt network TV is a dying business model. No end in sight for its long slow decline. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: Wow. How times have changed. Top 4 all sitcoms.
