Maybe CW should sign Roseanne on for her sitcom, or even Rosie O'Donnell and then they would finally enjoy big ratings.

God Help Us if this were ever to come true!

True but ANTM has grown in both viewers and demos where GG really hasn't. That was the reason for placing it in the "loser" column. It's wasting it's lead in. 2.87 is the initial number. When the final numbers come in, it will be closer to the 2.75 final of a week before.

Sorry, but that still doesn't look that impressive. Especially when you factor in the fact that ANTM has been treading strong in the same demos GG is looking for. At best, you can say it stabilized in the upper 2 million range and low to mid 1 demo. Not exactly a break out.

Week Total 18-49
1 3.50 1.6/4
2 2.48 1.1/3
3 2.75 1.2/3
4 2.87 1.3/3

But still three consecutive weeks of growth in total viewers and among adults 18-49...better than nothing.

That too. You're everything anyone would ever want to be plus a bag of chips. Don't let nobody tell you different. Wink

That is why it is pointless to talk about year to year declines in audience, much less decade to decade declines. The networks have to make their decisions based upon how shows are performing in the current environment. A show is worthy (or not) of cancellation based upon its current competition, not based upon its prior year(s) performance. Current competiton primarily means: shows on the same network that are also on the bubble and, shows on other networks that air in the same timeslot.

I think you mean differently.

Hey, I can't show favoritism, just because you're sucking up.

PP is a spinoff of the second or first biggest scripted show depending on the week and is hovering around 7-9M less than the mothership...

The same applies for CSI: Miami and CSI: NY...

And the comparison is one of apples
and oranges to begin with. Dupl of
a franchise crime procedural is much
easier than duping a show like GA.
PP was starting from scratch far more
than people think. It's doing about
the numbers I expected.

CSI does get the larger rating, but Survivor wins the 8pm hour, by a good margin and WAT tied for the top spot last week

I agree that GA is what makes ABC win Thursday. UB is sinking fast and Big Shots is still trying to find an audience.

Not sure if anyone posted this or saw this however at FutonCritic the following article was posted today. Basically it says that for premiere week, Grey's Anatomy dominated in Tivo ratings. Not sure what that will mean( if anything) for the overall ratings however that has to account for some of the ratings drop.

So a show that struggled to get a 2 in the demo and 6 million viewers last year, will all at once draw the same numbers as Boston Legal, The Unit, and B&S?
At 10 Million viewers, that would make it roughly a top 30 show (based on last weeks ratings).

Do Not See it Happening.

I wouldn't be so harsh on Jericho. If CBS gives Jericho an actual lead-in (Sundays @ 8 or Tuesdays @ 10) it might do over 10 million viewers and 3+ in the demo.

Not to mention it's always at the top on itunes for most downloaded shows.

I still think DSM's numbers are disappointing given the promotional campaign it received (its numbers will decrease this week in finals, Private Practice ran 2 minutes long).

And it baffles the mind as to why you schedule a show in prime real estate like Big Shots out of Grey's Anatomy and don't push it in a big way to make people aware of it. They did the same thing with Six Degrees last year. It makes no sense! Especially in a DVR world where you can by and large avoid on-air promos and have to actively choose to record something.

I've seen on-air promotions for Big Shots all week either by itself or as part Thursday night promo for all three shows.
