Well they actually have a Big Sunday of sorts with the comedy repeats from 5 to 7 each week. A big Saturday is an interesting idea, but I bet the ratings would be pretty awful. quote: Originally posted by buffymovies: does anyone know what the ratings for the WB's big sunday were? cause if they didn't suck to terribly, maybe the CW could do a Big Saturday or something, where they air the repeats of the shows during the week, or maybe even airing past shows that made the WB something worth watching

OMG, this night is getting worse and worse. What I'm sick of most is ABC's cruddy movie of the week. All they do is show the same movies over and over. If they schedule Head of State, The Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath, Forest Gump, or Cast Away one more time I'm gonna scream!!! My goodness, there are hundreds of movies made each year and that's all they'll air!!! Air something original.....PLEASE!

You forgot quite likely the most overplayed movie in ABC history...The Green Mile. quote: Originally posted by Keith1990: OMG, this night is getting worse and worse. If any network put out promotion for a decent program, they'd win Saturday easily. CBS is really wasting an opportunity if you ask me. Family stuff could really work well. Something that little kids and the grown ups could enjoy. quote: Originally posted by TheHunter: If the CW was going to throw anything in Saturday it should be Veronica Mars, and then we will see if it really does have 2 million hardcore fans. But from a business point of view the CW should air nothing at Saturdays, at the moment anyway.

That is not all they air. You are are being completely ridiculous. And if you don't want to see the movies then simply don't watch them. In fact ABC doesn't have to air anything that you like at all so please grow up, stop whining and find something else to do if it bothers you so much. quote: Originally posted by Keith1990: OMG, this night is getting worse and worse. I agree, but I was talking about the CW which doesn't have anything that can work there at the moment. Plus, they have too many problems elsewhere to worry about.

It'll be interesting to see which is the first network to blink and give up on Saturdays all together. It could be seen as a pride thing, being one of the "big 4," but the ratings don't even make sense anymore.
My guess is that it'll be ABC to go first, and likely within the next 2 years.

Does the CW even have a contract with the local stations that carry the CW Network on Saturdays?
I know with the local station that I watch they usually show infomercials, sports, syndicated or other local programming. Since UPN, the WB and the new CW have all lost money, I can't imagine that the local affiliates have become rich off their programming either. Those infomercials, sports and other local programming are probably some of the few profit generating opportunities that these local affiliates have.
I can imagine the CW coming to the local affiliates and saying; "hey let us do for you on Saturday what we have done for you the rest of the week." I’d say thanks but no thanks.
