-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS and NBC shared leadership on this first Friday in March, with CBS the most-watched and the two networks tied among adults 18-49. ABC finished third, followed by the CW’s underrated Friday Night Smackdown! and the annual NAACP Image Awards on Fox.
NBC opened the evening on a winning note, care of 9.92 million viewers and a 2.8 rating/10 share among adults 18-49 for game show 1 vs. 100. Am I the only one who thinks 1 vs. 100 is more entertaining than Deal or No Deal? Second in the 8 p.m. hour was a repeat of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer at 9.00 million viewers and a 2.7/ 9 among adults 18-49. A repeat of Grey’s Anatomy on ABC was fourth with 4.44 million viewers and a 1.4/ 5 in the demo. Over at the CW, old faithful Friday Night Smackdown! scored a healthy 4.76 million viewers with a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that beat the annual NAACP Awards on Fox (Viewers: #5, 3.93 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.) by 830,000 viewers and 23 percent among adults 18-49.
At 9 p.m., CBS’ on-the-fence Close to Home and NBC’s already renewed Las Vegas tied for first among adults 18-49 (2.5/ 8 each), with Close to Home outdelivering Las Vegas by 1.61 million viewers (9.81 vs. 8.17 million). Had CBS not been in such good shape, renewing Close to Home would be a given. A repeat of ABC’s Wife Swap averaged 4.61 million viewers (#4) and a 1.9/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#3).
At 10 p.m., ABC’s 20/20 and a repeat of CBS’ Numb3rs tied for first as follows:
20/20 (ABC)
Viewers: 7.63 million (#2), A18-49: 2.5/ 8 (#1)
Numb3rs R (CBS)
Viewers: 8.54 million (#1), A18-49: 2.2/ 7 (#2)
A repeat of NBC’s Law & Order was third at 10 p.m. with 7.32 million viewers and a 2.1/ 6 among adults 18-49.
