Do you have the numbers for Saving Grace, from Last week? I know Douglas has been trying to find it, but it has fallen out of the top 40 lists.
Thanks!!!

I almost hope for MTV’s sake that Tila and Bobby don’t work out... (I was actually surprised she wasn't pressured into picking Dani by, like, social revolution or something other than her "heart").

You know, it may have actually worked on ABC. The younger, more female audience probably would've been more aware of it.
I guess it depends on your definition of "Worked".
If you mean it would out rate and perform shows like Dirty, Sexy Money, Big Shots and Men In trees, then... Yes, it would. But if you mean it would get good numbers, then.... No, it would not.
Cane's failure was not a matter of what network it was on, it was completely based on the lack of good story lines.
Cane was sampled well when it premiered. Viewers started jumping ship as the saw how boring it was.... er.... still was.

I agree the storyline was the main problem but this show didn't fit CBS, especially on Tuesdays. As for it outrating Men in Trees, DSM, and Big Shots- you're only partially right. It didn't outdo Big Shots, it did not outdo DSM, especially in the demo, and it barely beat Men in Trees, but let's be fair- that show airs on a Friday. I'd love to see what Cane could do on a Friday at 8. Probably not much better.

Peace!!
I think people are finding out you can only take Holly Hunter in small amounts.
Shes a good actress, but I know I can only watch a couple of movies a month from her.
I've handled an entire season of her just fine. As for the viewership drops, I'd say the holidays have had as much of an impact as anything. I'm sure it will rebound to 4 million this summer.
You hit the nail on the head here. I just watched the week where they had the hurricane episode and they managed to kind of make it boring for certain storylines. They went absolutely nowhere with the whole wife/artist flirtation or with the hitting on the Rum Lady who at first looked to be going for the old man and then they abruptly changed their minds. The wedding episode was better especially at the end, but it looked to be too little too late.
Miracles can happen (although usually not on CBS) and I can still hope this show is given a shot to improve. It's such a shame to waste such a great cast.
And I have to agree with TV-aholic about outperforming the ABC shows as this one, if done right, would do well in both male and female demos.

The problem with focusing too much on whether a show "grew from its lead-in" is it rewards shows that air after low rated shows. Cane would probably "grow from its lead-in" if it aired after a show that was only watched by 4 million people. You do have to take lead-in into account, but you can't call a show a loser just because it lost viewers from its lead-in or call a show a winner just because it grew from its lead-in.
IMO, the only way Cane could get a second life is if they did a re-edit on all the aired episodes and presented them in just 6-7 hours, instead of 12-13. It would allow a much quicker pace and cut the fluff.
Of course, I would give it a break first, then come April, place it on a different night. Sort of a complete relaunch of the series.
If development is shot for next season, give it the post CSI slot with the relaunch in April

Are there the numbers from the others episodes? These numbers really stinks...if it's a trend I think it's because the show really changed this year (I find it still enjoyable, though).
And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Well, they could certainly scrap the entire hurricane episode as it didn't have anything to do with any of the continuing story lines. And then there are those story lines previously mentioned that went no where. But actually, most of the story lines didn't really come to fruition and poor Rita Moreno won't have any scenes until the relevant one she had at the end of episode 12. I think they could do the whole thing in about 4 eps.

Huh, funny that it actually did for repeats, and with higher numbers. Funny that will all of Reaper's "growth", it still never gets higher numbers while Supernatural still manages with the overwhelming competition.
I'm waiting for the day Reaper gets moved to Thursdays. I'm sure if it doesn't reach the good numbers you will blame the extra competition and still moan.

Not to mention it's not hard to outgrow the lead, when the lead is under 2 mil or barely above. I doubt Reaper would outgrow Smallville's lead either, and that would include repeats
Originally posted by College Basketball Fan: That Boston Legal jump at the half hour was viewers flipping over late and thinking "Oh crap, it's an original!" Bad call on ABC's part to air an original last night. What a pathetic week they've had.
When would you have preferred ABC air "Boston Legal's" Christmas episode? April?
I'd be fine with January if it meant more viewers (which it would). Isn't House running its Christmas episode after the holidays?
Yes, but nobody ever accused FOX's head of scheduling, Preston Beckman, of having any common sense. Me, I tend to prefer holiday-themed episodes airing in time for, you know, the actual holiday. Perhaps you preferred the way The WB scheduled "Living with Fran." The way they ran the Valentine's Day episode in April... the Halloween episode in February... And if they had done a Christmas episode? I'm sure that would have been on in June.
