... in retrospect, a 13 episode pick up of Veronica Mars, FBI doesn't look so bad right now
So true Travis. Although I never liked the show, that could of been something to watch instead of reality and repeats.
Interesting...I read that is was the higher ups on the WB side did not fight to renew VM for a fourth season mainly on the basis that its overseas market sales were lousy. It fought to have SN renewed. Why? Because its overseas markets sales are really, really, really good. It is all about profit in the end. I would not be surprised to see SN go five seasons and get a second syndication run.
Peace!!
Oh I think Supernatural will last as long as the CW lasts what 2 more years? That's pretty likely even with declining ratings. The real question is why OTH was never paired with GG from the start on Tuesdays and why an additional midseason drama or two weren't picked up along with the reality mess. I would also hold off on cancelling Life is Wild if I were them and air repeats in a better timeslot- maybe even Wednesdays at 9. Its not like GG repeats will draw much interest if any. Also, with CBS and Warner Brothers behind it, you would think the old movies that used to air on the WB and UPN that catered to young girls would have a place on this lineup. Sunday or even the upcoming Tuesday with OTH relocated behind Top Model would be an improvement.

No original The Closer lead-in. The series shouldn't have been renewed. Monday night it decreased from a Closer repeat lead-in, last night it dropped from a L&O repeat lead-in. TNT can do better, but I guess getting Holly Hunter to do TV is a catch so it got a second chance.

You're abslutely correct on that one. With the # of episodes reduced from 22 to 12 this season, 5 episodes of Supernatural will give Warner exactly 100 episodes of the series, in other words a perfect sized syndication package. I wouldn't be surprised to see the CW fold after the 2009-2010 season. Smallville will be done by then, and Top Model/wrestling are the only things they've got. Crowned sure isn't increasing its fortunes. Warner sees SPN as a cash cow, so it'll let it finish.

ABC has pushed back the premiere of Cashmere Mafia to the 6th following DH, and has taken off the new Betty on the 3rd for a repeat, and put a repeat of the DH tornado episode at 10(still a new Grey's at 9 for now).
Think these are good moves, but I would like for the new Grey's to air on the 10th since NBC has moved The Apprentice premiere to then.

By any chance did you read that on a Supernatural fan forum?
Knowing how TV works, ordering 13 episodes of Veronica Mars would have meant that about 6 were ready before the strike (think LOST).
CW still has Farmer Wants a Wife, One Tree Hill, Pussycat Dolls, another round of Top Model, and another round of Beauty & the Geek on tap. Add that with the near complete season of 2 of their 4 comedies and the fact that CW Now seems to be 'strike proof' and they really aren't any more damaged by the strike than the other networks.

Repeats of Gossip Girl will draw more viewers than original episodes of Life is Wild. The network was kind and let the Life is Wild cast/crew know the show was done so that they wouldn't have to worry about making plans and returning to Africa after the Christmas holiday.

Movies are a good idea, in moderation. However, CW doesn't want to fall into the trap that MNTV is falling into where they sacrifice any/all original identity in exchannge for a minor ratings gain by programming like a cheap cable channel that does nothing but repeat movies. Thinking 'long term', movies are not the way to build the network.

Apparently it is doing better than NBC expected as well. According to the Futon Critic, Thursday's Clash of the Choirs has been expanded to 2 full hours and Earl/30 Rock have been bumped off of the schedule. You just know that with 2 days notice, the show will be able to fill that extra hour without making it look like they are just filling an extra hour.

I almost hope for MTV’s sake that Tila and Bobby don’t work out... (I was actually surprised she wasn't pressured into picking Dani by, like, social revolution or something other than her "heart").
That seems low for Nip/Tuck. It's down this season. Does FX take into consideration rating for the next airing since they run back to back?

MyNetworkTV averaged 590K viewers last night from the two Christmas gospel-soul music encores, which are a disappointment coming so soon after their record-breaking 1.6 million viewer average last week (the week-to-date average is 838K viewers).

I agree the movies need to be moderation. As for Life is Wild, I mean air repeats- no one has seen this show and with a decent lead in may double in repeats what saw it in first run. Meanwhile, while on the subject of network building, keeping CW Now in primetime is only holding them back. Slate a night of movies and maybe some Supernatural repeats or something.

Saving Grace is creatively on a roll and airing a show outside of its regular timeslot in the holiday season wasn't the brightest move they've made. Do you suggest they should've renewed Heartland instead?

Strange moves. I do like the idea of holding back on Betty and B&S which both have about 3 new eps a piece I believe. I would hold Greys til the 10th to pair with Betty and an encore of Cashmere from the night before. The following week (17th)air Ugly Betty, Cashmere encore, and Big Shots and the next week (24th) Betty finale and 2 hour Big Shots finale. Then they can do an encore of Lost finale night from last year on the 31st- that should do pretty decent as fans will be anxious and then premiere Lost after a new recap special the following week.
