They might just be better off airing a test pattern, I could see that getting higher ratings.
If I was CW, I would move Melrose Place to Wednesdays, Smallville to Tuesdays and put TBL on Fridays.

It may not be the season, but The Yule Log does well every year. Maybe they should try that.
Seems like the people that tuned in for Mercy watched the whole thing. Perhaps NBC has something here.

People actually left Modern Family? Hmm. Cougar Town did very well.
I think that all stems from being after DWTS. You'll notice that, though 1.6M viewers left along with a 1.1 HH drop, there was only a(n essentially insignificant) 0.1 dip in A18-49.
Basically, a bunch of the 55+ers who decided to give it a shot tuned out (I say 55+ not 50+ because MF had a 0.3 drop in W25-54 and a 0.1 drop in M25-54 at 9:15... not huge). Unfortunately I don't have 15 minute data on 55+ers to back this up with numbers
"Early Show" co-anchor and "Big Brother" host Julie Chen and her husband, CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves, welcomed a baby boy named Charlie on Thursday morning in Los Angeles. Mother and baby are said to be doing well.
I can't believe Christine and Gary lost over 500,000 viewers each in the finals. You mean to tell me that some local CBS affiliates had the nerve to preempt the season premiere ? Losing that many viewers almost certainly means they were preempted somewhere.

I have, however, scrounged up 30-minute data on 55+ers
DWTS 8:30-9:00: 12.5/23
Modern Family 9:00-9:30: 6.7/12
So... I am rather confident in my earlier analysis and don't think this is a problem for "A18-49 is really all we care about" ABC
Last at 10 p.m. was NBC’s The Jay Leno Show with 6.43 million viewers and a 2.0/ 5 among adults 18-49. Comparably, this was only about equal to year-ago failed occupant Lipstick Jungle (Viewers; 6.25 million; A18-49: 2.4/ 6 on Sept. 24, 2008). It’s official: NBC has a big problem on its hands!
NBC has said numerous times that the strategy behind the Jay Leno Show was based purely on BUDGET….the intent was never to get a bigger audience at 10 or to give a boost to their affiliates (didn’t the Boston affiliate actually try to get out of airing the show altogether?). A self proclaimed Programming “Insider” should be expected taking this into consideration…
And actually, if NBC had went the scripted route at 10, then they would have studios charging up to 5 different licensing fees, and they would have to develop marketing plans for 5 different shows….so if they can get about 80% of the demo they were getting in the hour at a very much reduced cost……then what exactly is the “problem on their hands”?

CBS had the nerve to keep their lowest rated hour of television unchanged from last season?

Whoa at SVU's demo numbers, which is also probably responsible for how weak Mercy was in that department too.
I think a lot of people forgot it was on last night. I doubt the competition helped either.
Wouldn't it be funny if NBC's scripted shows thanks in part of people not being used to some of these shows being on at 9:00 eastern?
The only displaced show that had anything to lose was SVU, but even that show was showing signs of unprovoked deterioration towards the end of last season...
No way the leads can have a salary standoff again.....
