And, since the demo jumped up so much at 9pm, you have to think that these shows had their own audiences last night. My guess is that the audience will stick around, and both should be able to remain above 10 million next week.
I'm surprised Glee held up so well - I thought for sure we'd see it under 6 million, but it managed to grow from last week and held steady with a 3.0 demo. I can understand why FOX ordered a full season of it. Dance, on the other hand, is just disappointing. Good demo, but just 5.5 million is not something worth keeping. I keep saying this, but FOX can still get out - House repeats would do the same, if not better.
Considering they were both up from last season, good ratings for the CBS comedies. They're still low in the demo, but against Dancing and the premiere of Mercy, they did decent. I was right on with OC outrating GU, which tells me that GU will probably be 13 and done this season, since they could easily put AOP or ROE in the slot.
Nice premiere for Mercy. Another low demo performer, but the audience stuck around the entire hour. SVU - Wow. NBC has to be beyond disappointed with those numbers, especially the demo. NBC needs to consider switch it and Heroes immediately. SVU could actually find life on Mondays, while Heroes can be left to do nothing but die on Wednesdays.
I agree that NBC needs to do some serious damage control with their shows. I think SVU may increase later on in the season though. The competition will not always be this great and SVU does have a big proven audience. I'm glad that Glee held up so well. I agree that the ABC comedies should be able to hold their audiences.
I bet the CBS comedies will see a drop next week, as the ABC should be able to premiere close to the 10 million level. Considering Back to You had like 9.5 million watch its premiere, both Hank and The Middle (Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton) should be able to do about the same, if not better.
I still have to watch Glee - I've heard great things about last night's episode.
Man, the season is really overwhelming isn't it? I'm barely able to keep up with all the TV I record. I still need to watch Glee too.

And Wednesdays are the worst. This season is definitely one of the best for broadcast television in a long time, though. Lots of fantastic new shows, lots of great returning shows.
If you haven't done so already, make sure to cast your vote for your favorite shows in the PIF Network Game. Voting will end at 8pm, so you only have 20 minutes to play for today!

Garg, for reals right? I'm only disappointed that SVU got lost in the shuffle. For me, all days but Tuesdays and Sundays are not crowded (I don't count Saturdays right now, that is my catching up on the week day)
Gary already has 5 in the can, and if you notice already 10 more taping dates. That means he has at least 15 episodes, which means he almost surely has the full season order.

I believe Old Christine had around 6.5 million for last season's premiere, and Gary had about 6.8. So, Old Christine would be up quite a bit, while GU would be about on par. But you're right - the numbers looked much better before finals. These numbers always seem to drop in finals, though.
Bottomline - Old Christine is worth the full season, but Gary Unmarried necessarily isn't, since both ROE or AOP would probably do better in the slot. When you fall from your lead-in, that's not usually a good thing (although it did increase in the demo, so I'll give it that)

That is interesting - I don't know. I thought I read that Gary Unmarried had only gotten 13, but maybe they amped it up to a full season, or just added 2 more episodes to the order. If Gary doesn't pick up, though, I can't see it lasting all season in the slot.
Looking at the finals, it makes me realize that NBC needed a big premiere show like Parenthood Wednesdays at 8 PM. The network really caught a bad break. It's a very weak timeslot and one of the few that NBC could have used to try to get a stronger performer than Mercy. I think even splitting The Biggest Loser into two one hour blocks Tuesday and Wednesday would have been a better option. Mercy had a decent sampling, low on the demos, but as long as Mercy and Law and Order: SVU are attached together, I don't think Law and Order: SVU is going to get any better and thus Leno isn't going to get any better. NBC really has to protect Law and Order: SVU as they have a two year investment in it. In my opinion, NBC needs to change up their Monday and Wednesday lineups before November Sweeps. Probably with the same Monday/Wednesday shows but in a different order.

I was completely enthralled by 'Flash Forward' tonight. What a vision! What a gorgeously lensed production! Mr. Joseph Fiennes is outstanding, and must find a spot on his fireplace for his upcoming Emmy Award. What a truly intriguing series ABC has wrought.
SO many questions remain unanswered, and I truly hope we get a yarn of at least five years of answers.
And I must say how awesome was that little mini-preview of 'V' that was embedded within the 'Flash Forward' hour.
ABC's 'Flash Forward' seems to promise a whole series of provocative holy Moses moments.

Modern Family The Big Bang Theory Two and a Half Men Cougar Town Parks and Recreation Accidentally on Purpose / Community Gary Unmarried Old Christine How I Met Your Mother
This is fun. Here are my rankings, best on top (natch):
Old Christine - 7.171 million viewers - 4.6/8 HH - 2.2/7 A18-49
Gary Unmarried - 6.856 million viewers - 4.3/7 HH - 2.3/7 A18-49
