Capping off the 8 p.m. hour was The CW’s fading America’s Next Top Model at 2.84 million viewers and a 1.3/ 4 among adults 18-49. One year earlier, Top Model was considerably stronger with 4.13 million viewers and a 2.1/ 6 in the demo. What happened?
Reminds me of this poem
For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a nail.
I thought Modern Family was really funny -- Cougar Town, less so, but still had some laughs. It'll be interesting to see how a 4 comedy block of all new shows does next week. It would be pretty amazing if all 4 four shows hit big.
Interesting that both CM and SVU each lost 1.5 million viewers from last year. A bit of cannibalizing off each other no doubt. Still CM is definitely the stronger performer of the two. If Heroes continues to bomb on Mondays, NBC should slide Trauma to 8PM and move SVU to Mondays at 9PM.
I actually thought Mercy did a lot better than expected, especially opposite DWTS. It'll be interesting to see how it does next week opposite sitcoms on both ABC and CBS.
I will never understand why NBC thought putting Leno on five nights a week during primetime was a good idea. I get that his show is cheaper than an hour-long drama and/or comedy, but still. Competition wise, NBC is left out. It really has nothing new to offer this season to the viewing public. Its new shows do not look that great and returning dramas are hurting. Shame too. Not a bright move by the heads of NBC!!

No problem, that was an easy mistake to make. CM will probably be #1 again in the demo next week--the ABC comedies will come down from their premiers, especially considering they will probably have a lot lower lead-in.

One Tree Hill & Vampire Diareis get their "back nine" episodes, while MP gets an extra six episode order.
But question, with everything OTH has done for this network, why didn't OTH already have a full season order already?
Tsk, tsk.
Hey, about OTH, there was something about the departure of Chad Micheal Murray and the other chick, it may geared some instability. Cause GG, 90210 and SN got full season pickups =)
Also, MP only got script orders. If the show continues to bomb, there's no way it'll be cancelled after the 13th, wich is sad cause I'm actually liking the show.
Any chance NBC might move SVU back to its old Friday night stomping grounds, say at 9 p.m.? It did very well at 10 on Fridays for several years. (It might give them the added joy of putting a dent in Medium.)
Monday at 9 would be tougher. (Interesting note: The show first premiered in the Monday 9 p.m. slot.)

they fired one of their judges last year, the show also airs on other channels now?
Dawn Ostroff should be very worried about her job with only one hit in The Vampire Diaries.
No, Dawn Ostroff should be worried about her network's existence with only one hit in the Vampire Diaries. I'm sure its numbers will continue to drop this week. If they haven't canned her by now, they won't. I'm very surprised that the network still exists considering that it's swimming in red ink. It can't survive for too much longer with numbers like this.

Viewer fatigue? It's on its 14th "cycle." Though I thought the short girl cycle would generate some renewed interest but I guess not. Maybe all the girls and gay boys are watching SYTYCD instead.
Very happy about Modern Family's numbers. Glad about Cougar Town also (although it wasn't as good as I thought ... have to give it a second try next week to be sure though). Sorry that Mercy and Eastwick didn't do better. Hopefully both will fare better next week. They're both really good.

It'll be interesting to see what The Vampire Diaries (TVD) number's are after it goes up against Flash Forward (FF) tonight. One minute I think I'll watch FF and the other I think I'll watch TVD. I can't decide!
Several of CBS' crime procedural premieres(Miami, NCIS, Crimainal Minds, and NY) were based on cliffhangers from last season. While still being decent, I certainly don't expect their numbers to stay anywhere close to those levels. I do hope that Modern Family continues to do well; it is obviously the best new comedy of the season. Cougar Town didn't do much for me, though. I think NBC is clearly hurting their crime shows (SVU, Southland, L&O) by putting JL on at the 10pm slot.
The ratings of the new ABC wednesday really surprised me. I thought it was going to bomb big time. But then again, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money premiered well too two years ago, only to lose more viewers each week and get cancelled. But I'm interested to see in how they perform in upcoming weeks.
Mercy was terrible. A lame copy of Grey's Anatomy, only with nurses instead of doctors, but the show doesn't even come close to the charm that "Grey's" had when it first premiered. The characters were unlikeable and each moment was unbearable.
Eastwick wasn't that good either, but I loved Jaime Ray Newman ever since she was in "living 'til the end". I just don't see a series there and much of the dialogue and the scenes were actually really cringe-worthy.
Cougartown had its amusing moments, but I don't know if I am interested in a show that is only about the dating life of the lead character. That's usually the weakest and most boring part of any show. Still, I'm giving it the benefit of a doubt.
