I agree, pisher. Fox hasn't had much genre programming in a while since this season with Fringe and now, Dollhouse. They rolled the dice and this was their results.

Rather better results for Fringe--which is simply a better show. But still far from a hit in its own right. So what does that make Dollhouse?

They should not be happy with these numbers and I as a fan accept that. I guess I will have to be content with this being a one season show.

13 eps was all FOX committed to, and that's probably the best you can hope for.

I'm not giving up just yet.

Well, of course not. Next step is the flop Dollhouse theatrical feature. Then the Dollhouse comic book. Then the webisode crossover with Dr. Horrible. Big Grin

We all want friday to be better but, but noting the following:

The instant a show started doing really, really well here's $ 10 there will be immediate calls for it to be moved onto a better night

And the networks would do it, as they did with CSI and L&O SVU earlier in the decade

I see it as a network problem, and not a night problem. NBC is in the dumps all over the place, doing "friday" numbers all over its sked

ABC has of course a number of hits but they have had problem with depth all over their sked

And Fox, with a few exceptions, isn't a TA type of network and for that matter if DOLLHOUSE did score it would be gone soon

Actually, looked at another way, the problems on friday are a symptom of problems elsewhere

Very good points, Bruce.

The problem feeds upon itself--Friday shows do badly, so there are fewer and fewer good shows on that night. So fewer and fewer people think of Friday as a TV night and find other things to do. Which makes Friday shows do even worse. Etc.

And since neither SCC nor Dollhouse are terribly good shows (for the overwhelming majority of TV viewers, including many who like genre dramas), they really just deepen the problem--and are symptomatic of it, because we all know the reason SCC is on Friday now is that it was failing in the ratings, and the reason Dollhouse premiered on Friday is that FOX knew it wasn't going to have much appeal to most viewers.

Those FOX numbers are terrible. There's nothing positive at all to make out of them. My suggestion: ditch Sarah Conner, bring back Prison Break for its final episodes, and stick it out with Dollhouse until then at least. Since this is the final season of Prison Break, it should be able to pull in much better numbers. But, I'd much rather see gameshow duo 5th Grader and Don't Forget the Lyrics return to Fridays, which easily pulled in 5-6 million viewers, and roughly the same demo numbers.

Has NBC made any comments on what they think of Friday Night Light's numbers? They must be working on something or not wanting to announce it's cancellation.

Is there any way to get that information? I know that Dollhouse is big on Hulu.com and iTunes episode download list taking taking the top spots on both.

I think FOX will air out the episodes, but FOX Sci Fi Fridays are done. T:SCC and Dollhouse aren't coming back. AYSTA5thG and DFTL was pulling in higher ratings.

I think that Dollhouse would best be paired with Fringe.

Dollhouse was amazing last night. I will actually fly to Fox HQ and beg them to keep the show if that's what it takes. Dollhouse was highly anticipated in September/October, what the hell happened?

BTW when will the finals for last weeks Dollhouse be in?

Unless it does not do another deal with DirecTV, I think FNL is history.

Will FNL not just continue on DirecTV if NBC doesn't want it for next season?

Ghost Whisperer did good for a rerun.

Thank you Big Grin
I'm rooting for the show because I really like Eliza, I loved Angel and Buffy, so I'm hoping it will do better. I'm gonna keep hoping even though it seems the general concensus on the board is it wil fail lol but Im gonna keep watching and hoping.
