Respectable once again for ES

Does Eli Stone not have its own folder yet?
Did Lost run over the timeslot last night or is that a real Eli Stone rating?

There's nothing to be happy about when you look at it in comparison to a repeat of CSI.
New Lost - 11.87
CSI repeat - 11.45

It's a real BAD ES rating--Lost went over about a minute, no more.

OK, I'm officially concerned. This is the show's biggest drop week-to-week since the premiere, in both viewers and demo.

I don't think it's for any of the reasons listed so far -- what I've seen so far is that how much fans liked the previous episode affects the ratings for the following episode. The most admired episode so far had been "The Constant" featuring Desmond's story. The following week its numbers were nearly identical, meaning they enjoyed it and came back for more. However, it was followed up by "The Other Woman" last week, in my opinion the weakest episode of the season, causing the over a million viewers and a good chunk of the demo drop this week.

But I never expected LOST to dip under 12 million and a 5.0 in the demo this season. I hope next week's cliffhanger brings some people back to the remaining 5 episodes.

Lost went over by 2 minutes, which will likely result in an increase once the finals are released by about 100,000-150,000 viewers.

Time-shifting is hurting the show this year (#1 for the week of Feb 18-24 with 3.7 million viewers), but these are still good numbers (especially among adults 18-49).

Reaper's performance actually wasn't that bad. Retention from its lead-in was only slightly lower than the last newly aired episode of Supernatural:
Households - 71% vs. 75%
Viewers - 74% vs. 81%
Adults 18-49 - 75% vs. 80%

Plus it increased by 7% among viewers. Considering the long lay-off and new time slot, I'm not so sure it deserves a loser ranking this week.

We'll see how it fares next week and the week after. We'll have a good idea by then.

Chimera, one episode YOU think is bad (and many other Lost fans liked a lot) is not sufficient explanation for Lost dropping that far.

People are sick of the delaying tactics. Yes, we've gotten a little information in this run of eps, but it's too little, too late, and too long to the series finale. It's still a good show, but people expect better than that from Lost.

It'll go up a bit for the 'finale' next week, which promises CHARACTER!!!DEATH!!!!, but then they'll drop back even lower in subsequent episodes. Lost ratings may rebound, but so does the stock market--and they should have finished this story while the market was still bullish.

Zitrone, do I have to yet AGAIN explain the difference between fans and ordinary viewers, and how many more of the latter there are than the former? Roll Eyes

It means what it means. Back when Lost was at the peak of its popularity, episodes featuring flashbacks to the past of the Kwon marriage tended to do lower than average numbers. Which is one reason why there have been so few of them.

I was joking about the blogs, but still, I don't understand the logic. Lost is heavily serialized, so even for "casual viewers", at this point of the series shouldn't they be used to watching every single episode? As long as they're home and watched the start.

We will see next week if a non-Sun&Jin episode results in really better ratings.

I think the consensus is that many people thought last week's episode was the weakest of the season. Not bad, but definitely the weakest.

Comparing its ratings to the stock market? Wow, that's a useless comparison.

Marc - you seem surprised that Lost was a great episode -- it's rare that it isn't a great episode.

on celebrity apprentice, when did Marilu henner leave?

reaper is a great show, do you think the CW knows that?

"Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

Lost isn't doing amazing, but it's not doing terrible either. I'm not worried at all. It wont drop below 10 mil.
For once I actually agree with Pisher. I found last nights episode quite boring, and if you check out the numbers for Sun/Jin episodes you'll see that they're mostly down from the previous episode. (And yeh, I took you off ignore) Wink
I find it strange how Robert is praising ES's numbers, yet Lost's are somehow "terrible". It's at last years numbers at worst.

agree that they need to get back to the Father's motivations for selling Sam's soul in the first place. they also need to continue the storyline of the Devil's spawn (potential spawn) as she dates Sam. They touched a bit more on that last night, but it is still up in the air if she is 'evil' or just has a very weird sense of humor. Also introduced last night was Sam developing 'superpowers'. That may lead to more ominous 'bad guys' in the future.

That sounds promising. I think I give it another shot.

I'm frankly shocked that LOST would drop from a 5.4 to a 4.7 in the demo in a just one week. That to me is a much bigger concern than losing a million overall viewers.
