Lost: Down. Perhaps partially due to daylight savings. Perhaps more people DVR'd the ep. I don't know. I don't really care. Its still a good show and isn't going anywhere.
Reaper: Somewhat disappointing but Supernatural pulled those sorts of numbers for weeks behind Smallville so I'm not all that surprised. I do think that it would've pulled that number had it stayed in its 8pm Tuesday slot too. The show is really funny and honestly should've been paired with either Smallville from the beginning this year or with EHC and AiA. The three of them just seem like they would've meshed well together.
Eli Stone: Really really like this show. The fact that it at least keeps the same viewer levels week to week should account for something. I'd like to see what sort of numbers it would pull on a Friday at 8 or 9 away from the cursed post-Lost slot.
Originally posted by Texas Bound: I will give a not bad to Reaper though. The numbers were not great by CW means, however for the first episode back after such a long break (given how hiatuses have killed other shows in the past), I would say it found some footing.
Good to see the ratings were inline with recent Supernatural ratings. It will be interesting to see how the two CW shows hold up under the NCAA pressure of the coming weeks.
I will say that Reaper being off the air for a long time really showed....Christmas decorating in March!?!
As for the episode, not their best effort by any means. I found myself more interested in knowing more about the prank on the boss or about the DA friend coming after them than the boring storyline about the wannabee RockStar. Jamie Kennedy was a dud of a guest star.

And Smallville is a concern with a season 8 looming already. This once steady over 4 mil show is leaking. Good news, it beat Top Model this week.
the 'beat' might need to be reserved until finals come out and ANTM won the demo. Still, both shows are proving that a falling tide lowers all ships.
You know Reaper isn't a BAD show. It's just sort of there. It has potential to be very entertaining but it just falls flat. I can't quite explain it. I want to really like it but Sam hasn't changed in 12 episodes, his friends are still dorky (yet slightly entertaining), The devil is a great character but doesn't really do anything different each episode. Sam's dad has this secret but nothing has really changed with that...it just could be a lot better but isn't.
That is exactly how I feel. I think they need an ongoing story, or a big bad. I thought the thing with Sam's contract had potential, but they kinda dropped it.
I had deleted my pass and couldn't muster up enough motivation to record last nights ep.
Slightly disappointed by the dip in Lost's ratings, but I'm still happy about them for they're still pretty good. 12 million and a 5 in the demo is more than maaaaaany other shows can say these days.

Why? 7.5 is respectable when i take into account those 6 million for SW without DWTS or those 6 million for DSM. It's no hit but it certinly does better than other shows ABC has renwed

I agree that they need to get back to the Father's motivations for selling Sam's soul in the first place. they also need to continue the storyline of the Devil's spawn (potential spawn) as she dates Sam. They touched a bit more on that last night, but it is still up in the air if she is 'evil' or just has a very weird sense of humor. Also introduced last night was Sam developing 'superpowers'. That may lead to more ominous 'bad guys' in the future.

Right, and networks decide which shows to renew by looking at their ratings in total isolation from what timeslot they had, what lead-in they had, how far they fell from their premiere, and of course they TOTALLY ignore the demo number. Except when the show does worse in the demo, in which case they ignore total viewers. And they simply renew any show above a certain level, even if the show just beneath it costs less to make, and has some actual hope of working in syndication.
And life in "TV Fan Denial" land, continues in typical fashion.

No, I could easily be pleased!
I should probably just ignore it, but I wish I could understand what a makes a "winner", and what makes a "loser". Not to mention "Honorable Mention". 5th Grader and Lyrics consistently get rated as "winners", with the reason given that they perform at levels much much higher than FOX had last year in the same time period. But for some reason those are the only 2 shows on TV that get listed as winners based on ratings compared to last year in the same time period. For example, Medium on Monday night at 10 this past week had 9.22 million viewers and 2.9 in 18-49. Last year in the comparable time period, Black Donnellys had 5.42 million viewers and a 2.0 among adults 18-49. This rise is similar to the FOX shows on Thursdays this season compared to last season, yet Marc whines in his column weekly how Medium should be doing better.
It would just be nice if shows were judged comparing apples to apples, and using the same barometer. But as I have said before, Marc's rules are as follows:
FOX: for some reason he still judges FOX like they are a "4th network", even though FOX is obviously now part of the Big 4. A show on FOX that gets 7-8 million viewers is doing very well according to Marc, while a show on ABC, CBS, or NBC that gets 9 million viewers is not doing well.
ABC: If the show is one of his favorites, the ratings don't matter. It is a winner. Brothers and Sisters gets weak ratings, when judged by it lead in, yet it is always a winner. I have a feeling ABC might move this show in the fall, and then it will die. Because it is a ratings dud.
CBS: If its on CBS, its a winner. The 18-49 ratings don't matter. The drops from previous seasons don't matter. For example, this week CSI is a winner, even though it finished in 4th place in the demo. It had 11.45 million viewers and a 2.9 from rating. Last year in the comparable week (and also a repeat), CSI did 15.77 million viewers and a 4.3 demo rating. A significant drop. But this does not matter. It is a winner. After all, it is on CBS.
NBC: Even though NBC is in 2nd place this season in the demo ratings, based on Marc's analysis, you would think they were buried deep in last. For example, week after week Biggest Loser performs solidly in the demo considering they are up against AI, yet never a kudos.
