No, I didn't so I guess that drop off isn't as huge as it appears.

However it still doesn't look like it has
any real strength. I just don't think America embraces WHIMSY as much as ABC seems to think it does.

There has been almost no 'hunt for the chosen one' in either episode. Most of the 2 episodes so far have been character background mixed with weak crime solving mysteries.

Last week:
12.85 million A18-49: 5.4/13

This Week:
12.88 million A18-49: 5.4/13

Now that's what I call consistency! Big Grin

This retention is significant because last week was good but a bit of a crapshoot.

The first half-hour is inflated because of the LOST overrun -- it doesn't drop nearly that much. In fact, I don't know many returning viewers that have watched more than 1 episode that watch it for half hour and decide they don't want to see the end. In fact, last night I intended just to DVR it and watch tomorrow, and after I started watching I could not make myself turn it off. I kept saying, okay, after the next commercial break, but the story kept me involved. That's why, unless other marginal shows like MIT and OR, it deserves a renewal.

Because it kept you involved? And the rest of the viewing public doesn't count? Roll Eyes

It had the same run-over from Lost last week, and it's down significantly this week. That's a whole lot of people, week after week, deciding this show isn't worth the effort.

And it's not.

And you can't be offended if you're not reading this.

The Chosen One? Confused

You don't have to be particularly fresh to give a show an honest try--as long as the show is honestly exciting. NA may be entertaining ehough for people who expect to live for centuries, but most people don't have that much time. Wink

good point :-)

8M this coming Monday would "cut it" though right?

Yes, but I don't see that happening -- my guess is 6 million, give or take a mil.

8M would put it on par with T:SCC. 7.5M would put it on par with PB. However, if it had under 10M last night, I doubt it will be able to hold up to either of those levels in the Monday timeslot.

I' surprised at Lost;s numbers. They're still mediocre but at least it didn't fell after that horrible episode last week. Much better was yesterday's episode

In the words of Temperance Brennan, I don't know what that means. Confused

Last week's ep was the best of the season so far. And as a result, the show didn't LOSE viewers. If the reaction to last week's ep had been that it was spectacular epoch-making TV, the ratings would be up this week. It was a good solid ep, and that was enough to keep things stable.

All us NORMAL Lost viewers want to know is that it won't get any worse. That's all we need. That's perfectly reasonable, isn't it?

Yes, last week was an incredible treat for hard-core fans, but it left some casual fans a bit confused. But I saw the enhanced rerun last night, and they did do a good job with the hand-holding, so I think the viewers will be sticking around.

My favorite example of last night's enhanced commentary, when Desmond first "appears" back in the Irish Army camp.

"You may have noticed there wasn't the typical 'swoosh.' That is because Desmond is not having a flash-back. He is time-travelling."

Robert, much as we agree on some things, obviously if a lot of people who watched last week's ep thought it was horrible, the ratings would be DOWN.

It wasn't genius, it wasn't horrible--it was just decent television, and it moved, and it probably would have done better if they could have made it about one of the more popular characters, but the writers are sick to death of the more popular characters, and I don't blame them.

Eli Stone is obviously still in big trouble, but I thought that last night's ep was VERY good, IMO the first episode since the pilot that stopped sitting on their increasingly stale premise and indicated some real forward movement for the series. Unfortunately, as with so many shows, they probably took too long to "find their groove" or whatever.

Expected Apprentice to rebound with so many scripted shows in the hour canceling each other out, but a boosted Apprentice apparently didn't help out LJ.

And off-topic to Thursday programs, but I found it very weird that in two hours on ABC I saw almost nothing in the way of promotion for Here Come the Newlyweds, despite quite a lot of promos for EM:HE and Oprah. I actually considered its over-4.0 opening on Sunday to be more of a "winner" than Oprah since the Big Give has, you know, Oprah and all the hype that goes with her, but apparently ABC really thinks Big Give is their cash cow no matter what Newlyweds did. Interesting.

That sound effect is called a 'swoosh'? Damn, maybe I should watch the enhanced episodes, in order to gain such invaluable knowledge. Or maybe not.Big Grin
