Impact & Merlin didn't do horrible, but not very good either.
I see Merlin leveling out at under 4 million, if not lower.

HUGE numbers for NBC's Merlin. They cracked the 5 million mark for a new show!!!! Holy Cow!!!! This is bigger than Leno!

Both Merlin and Impact were low rated. At least with Merlin, it seems to have leveled off in the second hour at around 5 million. Not spectacular, but enough to probably satisfy NBC since it's pretty much a burnoff.

All things considered, Merlin did very well. It did not lose audience from its 1st hour to the 2nd hour. It was 2nd in the demo throughtout the 2 hours to the FOX comedies. And it was on in the summer on a Sunday night when people are not generally watching TV.

Anytime a Dumont show breaks the 5 million mark, it's HUGE!! Too bad there wasn't a Winners/Losers list as this would be beyond a Winner for NBC. They should be centering their entire fall lineup around Merlin and put together some Merlin Merchandise. I also see a great cross promotion opportunities with The Biggest Loser (The Contestants search for Wizard's in the Woods) and Law & Order SVU (the case of the missing Wizard)...

Phil Mickelson, his first PGA tournament since leaving the tour recently due to his wife's cancer, is currently sharing the lead at the U.S. Open as the New York crowd cheers him on! Meanwhile, coming from obscurity after leading the sport 10 years ago, David Duval ALSO shares the lead! (Keep expressing those "zzzzzzzzzzz"s, xwiseguyx!)

New York cheering on the golfers! Smiler

The way this final round has been going, you may be sleeping all day til nightfall and continuing into tomorrow morning because the tournament may see an 18-hole playoff, like last year's epic Tiger-Rocco Monday playoff.

Sweet Dreams! Big Grin

Needless to say, I am tickled pink at how well NBC did with 'Merlin' last night on the first evening of the summer solstice...on the longest day of sunshine in the year (for those of us in northern climes), a huge number of A18-49s gathered around their television set early in the evening to watch this updated tale of the legendary 'Merlin'. The Nielsen numbers are even more remarkable occurring in the midst of all these post-DTV-changeover audience shrinkage issues where many people are having troubles getting clear broadcast signals.

I found the series to be a pure treat, not the sheer joy that 'Legend of the Seeker' has become, but a fun romp into the legendary tales of mysticism and high adventure nevertheless.

'Merlin' got the best non-sports 8 pm numbers of the entire 2008-9 season aside from the debut of 'Kings', the 3 hour 'Celebrity Apprentice' and a few two-hour 'Datelines'.

NBC would be wise to keep the momementum rolling on this frolicking series by scheduling it out in two-hour chunks (with a three hour finale), just like a miniseries.

Way to go NBC...at this stage, with your 52-weeks-a-year rollout of original programming producing such competitive numbers, I have you pegged to win the July Sweep for the first time since the halycon days of the summer of 2003 when NBC last triumphed in July with the best set of A18-49s (averaging 2.88 through the Sweep that year).

Mr. Colin Morgan and Mr. Bradley James co-star in NBC's fresh Sunday summer series 'Merlin', every Sunday at 8:00 pm across the NBC Television Network

Fortunately for Chicago viewers, they also have a Gilligan's Island Marathon today on our station Channel 26.3 - MeToo TV. Tomorrow will be a Partridge Family Marathon in case the tournament continues.
