That is good news. Finally the strike is over. Monday will be interesting. NBC has been rumored to drop multiple shows within hours after the strike ended. It will be interesting to see if they do it.

NBC should drop a good chunk of their lineup.

CW never could have moved to profitability with low income shows like Smackdown, but it was a good schedule filler to keep 2 hours of the week busy without any development costs. Now, they will have to fork out money to fill those 2 hours; which leaves less money to develop the rest of the schedule. Long term, CW has to start spending more money before they can ever hope to make money. Hopefully, the fact that they chose not to spend that money on Smackdown is a sign that they know they need better payoff than that show could ever have offered.
The SmackDown! ads just pays The CW about 27,000. Second lowest ad $ in The CW Network (Online Nation - cancelled was the cheapest, $23,000 per ad.), I think. And "America's Next Top Model" was the most expensive on The CW, $130,000 per ad.

While that number is very low for Smackdown, lets not forget that it is a Friday night and these are probably not high income "valued" viewers for the CW. Still, its better using it as filler than having to program.

Agree! Friday is indeed a 'lackluster' night that's why movie-making companies like Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema release their made-movies during Fridays <------ that's a factor of Friday being lackluster and one more families go out of their houses and go malling.

It isn't CW that has determined that those viewers have very little value, it was the sponsors that made the determination. Meanwhile, Josh_Kane seems to have regurgitated my post to the CW boards explaining why Smackdown was not a big money maker for the network despite ratings. However, he missed the point I was making above. The point was that CW decided not to renew for next year because WWE wanted more. Smackdown wasn't worth more (in CW's opinion), so it was cut loose. Hopefully, that is a sign that CW feels that the money WWE wanted for next year could be better spent elsewhere.

Spent better on what? More reality trash? They have no pilots.

mushu, they do have pilots. A more likely scenario, IMO, is that they will fill the Friday night slot with a movie. I'd rather see them spend more money on good movies than more Smackdown. I might want to watch a movie, but Smackdown was just 2 hours worth of programming I would never watch. They also might put together a gameshow night. I'd rather see them spend money on that than Smackdown as well. The bottom line is that the Smackdown producers wanted more money (they probably wanted a money guarantee rather than the current shared revenue deal) and they were not worth it.

I still think it will hurt them as a network to lose Smackdown. Why not work out a deal with them for perhaps a bit more WWE programming for Sundays while they were at it? I do agree however that a movie or gameshows would be more entertaining in my book. Movies are a very likely scenario.

From the final numbers, I'd say Zap2it was correct: Smackdown! 4,550,000 1.3/4 Good to see that the Smackdown! fans didn't turn off the show with the announcement that it wouldn't be renewed for next season.

I suggest a new TGIF-esque comedy night (moving, once again, Everybody Hates Chris, The Game, and Girlfriends - if it comes back for a ninth season - to Fridays and finding something to put at 8:30pm).
Might work, but that new comedy better have a 'name' star instead of just being recycled actors from their other shows.
And only a couple days after I wrote that CW makes this announcement: Hartley signs holding deal with CW. Wow, The guy has been Aquaman, Green Arrow, Spellbound, and Eight Days a Week. I guess now that he has had 4 attempts on CW, they want to sign him on permanently?

Hi,
Was still hoping if there were any numbers for Stargate Atlantis which aired on SCI FI @ 10/9C! Anything would be great. Thanks so much.
