CIC would have tanked before long, whether CBS tinkered or not. They were screwed either way.

Except it was on ABC, and thus screwed in every way possible. And being moved to Thursdays at 10pm (aka the ABC death slot) didn't help things.

Besides, there's still the possibility of the real thing coming up.

i would say almost 10 million viewers at 10:30 is pretty damn good

The positive news for DWTS is that numbers for the recap show next Tuesday @ 8pm should be higher than expected since many people, including myself, missed at least some of the performances over the two nights. The bad news is that that recap show is ALSO slotted opposite Idol...

What a COLLISION last night! My mother was watching both 'American Idol' and 'Dancing with the Stars' but she was watching more 'DwtS'.

Won't people just watch online? I know I would instead of waiting for the dumb recap special. Ugh and to think next week that 2 hours of Dancing gets wasted on Primetime.

The point that I was making earlier about Jericho, and for that matter any other heavily serialized show, is that they would greatly benefit from some sort of more direct method of support. Nobody would buy "Biggest Loser" on DVD, but Jericho is doing great on DVD. It's just a quirk in the system that allows most reality shows to succeed. This is what we were talking about regarding Nina Tassler's comments. People are indirectly paying through advertising, but they wouldn't actually pay directly to get the show on demand. If TV was all on demand, and you could only choose one, would you really choose some reality show that you're only half-watching while doing something else?

On the other hand, Biggest Loser has to be approaching zero $ per episode in terms of costs (given the product placements likely pay for the production costs). So, ever dollar of 'On Demand' income wopuld be profit. Meanwhile, Jericho doesn't have enough fans that would pay the 'On Demand' fee for it to make back its cost to produce.

Me, I am too greedy to pay for the show unless I already absolutely am in love with it. I simply won't watch either (already do not watch reality) and will be better for it. I realize that most people

I wonder what's so different about this new translation of WaP? And it's not a difficult book to understand, deep of course, but not particularly complicated.

ABC should be able to build off the "preview" launch of Miss/Guided last night. It got a good audience.

I agree with mushu_jj who observed that the One Tree Hill episode was a bit flat and boring, especially for a highly promoted wedding and the heralded 100th episode mark. Nice to see the parents come back as well.

Speaking of which, also nice to see The Riches back with their second season with a decent rating for F/X.

Is it decent? I thought that Dirt premiered higher, but in a lower profile timeslot and that was widely considered as disappointing. I might be wrong, though.
