I said that as soon as it was scheduled at this weird 10:30 timeslot -- but if fans liked it as much as people on here and the reviews I read, then it might still have a shot on Thursdays in the earlier hour. 7 million viewers and a 2.5 in the demo would make ABC happy in that timeslot. I think this would be a great companion to Samantha Who next season.

another flop for (producer/actor) Ashton Kutcher, The Real Wedding Crashers, Beauty and The Geek, and now Miss/Guided, let's give him another show

It looks like the alternate ending for Jericho will be needed. Yes it's a shame for us that like the show but I'm pleased that it got 7 episodes to advance the story. Sci Fi had their upfronts yesterday showcasing their pilots and shows that may be picked up so I doubt Jericho will be in their plans.

quote: I am actually very surprised that CBS did not air Jericho right after NCIS. It seemed like a much better fit. Also, it makes sense for Big Brother to air at 10 PM. The more risque things could be shown at the later hour of primetime TV. Alternatively, Jericho could have aired during its original Wednesday time. If anything, the show should have been given a better chance to succeed. Airing it at the same time every week is somewhat helpful, but not for an on-the-bubble show.
If the ratings had stayed stable, or gone up, you'd have a point. They went down, so you don't. Either Jericho had a big and loyal enough fanbase to follow it to a less than ideal timeslot, or it didn't. It didn't. Nobody with half a brain thought it was going to come back and kick ass. Okay, a lot of Jericho fans thought that, but that's kind of the point. They couldn't waste a good slot on Jericho--they gave it a chance to prove itself in a somewhat tough slot--but hey, it wasn't Friday or Saturday. Is Tuesday at 10pm really the problem? Isn't it simply that the shows that go there are mainly pretty bad? Why is Tuesday at 10pm worse than Monday or Wednesday at 10pm? Friday night is tough. Saturday night is tougher. But sometimes, to hear some disgruntled fans of shows most people never wanted to see, you get the feeling there are like two or three halfway decent timeslots on the entire primetime schedule (and guess what? they're all occupied by big hits). And when one of their shows gets a really primo timeslot, it gets canceled FASTER.

Why do you consider 10 million viewers, first HH, viewers, and demo and shown in the 10:30 timeslot, which EXTREMELY rarely happens in broadcas television, a flop? Retention of DWTS lead-in hardly is the key factor here. But I agree with whoever said a day or two ago that launching Miss/Guided on Monday @ 9:30 after DWTS, and keeping The Bachelor to an hour at 10pm would have been a much better way to launch the show. Still, we gotta wait and see how it performs on Thursday. It sounds like everybody that watched it liked it...

I like jericho but i have to agree. It got it's loyal fans to come but it didn't gain an audience and I"m sure CBS had an idea it wouldn't and that's why it is where it is. If the right show was in CBS's 10pm slot nobody would be saying it's a death slot but something has to really step up next season. CBS has a lot of returning shows each season and it can't afford to give one of it's heavy hitters a time slot that is generally known for having the lowest viewership. If it were to take that chance it might open up a better slot for a promising show in the future.

And why is B&TG considered a flop? I thought it was in it's second or third season. quote: Originally posted by Chimera: quote: Originally posted by supertvfan101: another flop for (producer/actor) Ashton Kutcher, The Real Wedding Crashers, Beauty and The Geek, and now Miss/Guided, let's give him another show

Tomorrow night would seem to be its best and only chance. With NBC still in reruns for a few more weeks and no survivor due to basketball if it doesn't do respectable it probably wont in future weeks. quote: Originally posted by Chimera: quote: Originally posted by tv avenger: What a shame more people did not sample Miss Guided. Yeah, that 19 million lead in hurt its chances as well. There's no reason that Dancing and Idol can't coexist in different time slots. Too bad because dancing was so much better with the ladies then with the men. quote: Originally posted by tv avenger: What a shame more people did not sample Miss Guided. Idol can only use music that the *real artists* give them permission to use. An artist that just had a hit in the last year or two probably isn't going to release that song for use on Idol.

Really? This would be absurd.

They should have had the women Monday night and the men last night -- I'm sure from taping practices they could tell the women were vastly better. Since the ratings were bound to drop vs AI somewhat, at least have the subpar men's performances be the one to take the hit...

What would be absurd? You think that artists like Gwen Stefani are just begging to have their music redone by kareoke singers? I remember when Rockstar INXS came out over the summer a couple years ago and critics were quick to notice the much higher quality of 'rock' music that show had available as compared with Idol. Several artists came forward to point out that they didn't want Idol using their music because of the quality of the singers and the show's desire to sometimes showcase really bad singers.

The problem with Jericho is that it's just too good for its own good. People DVR it instead of watch it live. It was CBS's number one show online. I just would like to point that out to people who think it's not popular. It is. It's just that people who watch it are smart enough to operate a VCR. Nina Tassler herself addressed this when we were talking about this over on the CBS Jericho forums. It's very difficult for any good show to compete in the current environment of network television. The only people left watching live TV are those who will just watch whatever is on because it's easy and don't care if a show is interrupted by a phone call. So, ironically, the good shows get cancelled now. CBS has to make money. Even though they know it's actually more popular, there's just no mechanism for them to make money. The situation was similar to Monday Night Football. ABC has a lot more viewers, but they switched it to ESPN because people pay for cable. It's in the odd situation of having less viewers but making more money. CBS has done a great job with the show, and a lot of the executives like the show and want to keep it going, but they can't if it's not making money, even though they know it would do well if people had to actually pay for what they watched. You should have a gut check when a show like "My Nanny is Better Than Your Nanny" is doing about as well as a show about nuclear war. You know something might not quite be right with the rating system. No one would actually pay to see the nanny show.
