I watched both Chuck and Life online last week. They were on NBC.Com, Hulu, and had links all over the internet so I think that these two were watched by a lot of folks, which didn't help their premier numbers.
By the way I thought Life had an excellent premier, the new captain is rather funny.
heres hoping that chuck will increase next week...im scared for it. i absolutly love this show.....i forgot about the premiere online so that could have alot to do with it.
Bad starts for Chuck & Life, which isn't surprising considering the rating they pulled last years. Heroes has slightly dropped from last week especially in the Demo's. After the bad starts from Knight Rider & Lipstick Jungle last week, NBC is in serious trouble.
Nice demo numbers for BBT & HIMYM and the combination of Gossip Girl & One Tree Hill is working well for CW.
Worst Week is well on its way to be the 1st cancellation on CBS.
At this point I am not sure why anyone is expecting shows to actually do better in the ratings than seasons previous to now. The strike and more cable options have to be a factor. Each year there is a considerable loss of viewers across the board on network television. The Nielsen system is not even close to a useful measurement of viewers anymore. So many people are waiting to watch shows on DVD, online, or later on DVR, more options on cable...expecting shows outside of a handful of them to do over 12 million viewers is setting people up for nothing but disappointment. It will be interesting to see what becomes the CANCELATION line in terms of viewers this year, it seems to get lower and lower each season.
Is it normal for Dancing with the Stars to see a 31% decline in the demo? Even last week each episode say double digit declines amongst Adults 18-49 (19% Tuesday vs. Monday and 23% Wednesday vs. Tuesday).
While I know the show doesn't appeal directly to that demographic, the ratings swing would cause me some concern...

Chuck & Life also premiered a week early, streaming online, so viewers did get a chance to watch and tune out for week 1. The truth may be in week 2 ratings. Heroes fell into the same situation, and it fell a bit in week 2. Unlike last week though, at least Heroes built at the half hour.
Heroes Week 1 - 9.89 4.9/12 Week 2 - 9.34 4.4/11
I still think this is not a wise move by NBC. They shed viewers for the premier. Then they make people wait two weeks for a new episode, results in people tuning out also being my guess.
The CW now has a strong Monday. Looks like it is inching up each week also. It won't grow tremedously, but it looks like it may pick up about 50k viewers a week.

Not on CBS. The BBT/HIMYM hour is averaging more than a million viewers more than last year at this time.
It will be interesting to see if anyone tracked how many people actually watched the premiere early.
