Now they're filming the 12th episode, so if FOX pulls the plug the other 9 will not exist cause the production will stop with the 13th. I still have some hope for a full season, it's getting better and better this season
Originally posted by Julie: CBS shouldn't have put Worst Week after 2.5 men - for one, it's a single camera comedy, which basically kills its ratings right there (with CBS's past history of single-camera comedies). The only way I see Worst Week being cancelled very soon is if it goes under 9 million next week, which it could likely do.
The thing with Boston Legal is that the show has never gotten great ratings. The episode last night got the same ratings it was getting last year, and last year it wasn't labeled a loser. I think ABC is very dumb in announcing this as the last season of the show. Last night's episode brought in more viewers than Pushing Daisies did on average last season, and that show is supposedly a hit.
Worst Week is simply not a CBS type sitcom. It has no place on the network. I think CBS was forced into putting it in the 9:30 time slot by NBC Universal, who demanded that time slot in exchange for ownership. I think ROE gets that time slot back very soon.
Studios shouldn't be forcing networks to put stuff on in good timeslots. If NBCU was smart they would've let CBS put it on Wednesdays where it can have some excuses for why its failing.
I agree with you, but I heard it was a demand NBC Universal made of CBS in exchange for part ownership in the show.
I truly don't understand why CBS is doing so so poorly in 18-34, everyone i know my age watches plenty of CBS shows. I know a personal experience means nothing but i still find hard to believe CBS is 4th, close to CW in this demo
This is the final straw on Worst Week. I think it must go now. Look at its final numbers :
WORST WEEK (5.6/08, 8.96m) averaged 3.9/08 in adults 25-54 and 2.9/07 in adults 18-49.
It lost 350,000 viewres and its demo is now under 3.0.
All the CBS shows lost a little bit, because of football preemption in Baltimore/Washington DC, but all the other shows kept the same demos, and now the 8:00 shows beat Worst Week in the demo by a load. When was the last time a 9:30 CBS sitcom got a 2.9 demo, and finished well below the 8:00 shows ? These numbers are downright embarrassing. If I were CBS I would pull it now.
Well you hit the nail on the head there. CBS shows for the most part, do not interest young people. Unlike our parents, we like characters in our shows, not cut and dried procedurals. And while they may watch some CBS shows, they're all probably watching the same few: BBT, HIMYM, maybe 2.5 Men, possibly CSI or CSI:Miami (not NY), Survivor, or TAR. There really isn't anything else remotely appealing to younger viewers on CBS. I mean, do you really think young people want to watch Cold Case, the Unit, or Criminal Minds? Nope. Count Tuesdays and Fridays out too.

Why is that hard to believe? Most of CBS's schedule is filled with the extremely tired dead body procedural shows.
Younger folks I know who do watch the cut and dried procedurals pretty much stick to CSI or CSI:Miami. They don't care much for the spinoffs and rip-offs. Too bad more young folks though didn't find the Mentalist, which I thought was miles ahead of the average CBS show.
Does anyone know if there has EVER been a show that during their first season the ratings kept dropping (as in SCC, Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone etc), that managed to rebound during their second season?
I'm not talking about shows that were consistantly low during their first year, but the ones that kept dropping.
I'm just wondering.. Can anyone name one?

IMO, it belongs in ABC. It would have fit perfectly with some of their shows. But, it's definitely getting killed in its 9:30 timeslot. Both Rules of Engagement and Christine could manage at least 2 million more viewers and a MUCh higher demo.
I can't believe it dipped below 9 million. For its second episode, that's just pathetic. There's no way this show will be getting a full season pickup. CBS needs to cancel it pronto.

Agreed. It is now down to just 62% demo retention from Two and a Half Men. This is the worst show CBS has had in that plum time slot in a long time. If I were them I would give it one more week. If it drops again next week I would cancel it. That it just too good of a time slot to waste on a show like that.
All I can say is, tick, tock...the cancellation clock is ticking.

I'd definitely give it another week, but for episode 2, getting under 9 million is just pathetic for a CBS show. That has got to be one of the most coveted timeslots on CBS. For comparison, I believe both Rules of Engagement and Christine got over 12 million for the season finales last season in that same spot, and they've been on the air for 2 years (although not that many episodes) already.
Put Gary Unmarried there, and let it have a real chance to do well. Either that, or they could just go back to putting Christine or Engagement there. Instead of switching between the 2, though, they need to give 1 the slot permanently.

I agree, Marc. I think if it does not improve next week it could be gone after just 3 shows. Falling below 9 million and under a 3.0 demo has to be shocking for a CBS 9:30 show.
