-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led this second Monday in June, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Next in both categories was Fox, followed by NBC, ABC and the CW. Like most nights this summer, there is not too unusual to report.
A repeat of TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show opened the evening for CBS with 6.44 million viewers (#2) and a 1.9 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 (#1t). Comparably, this was 860,000 more viewers than a repeat of regularly scheduled occupant The Big Bang Theory just one week earlier. Look for the second season-premiere of Bill Engvall this Thursday on TBS. And expect Turner Entertainment to give CBS some promotional time in exchange for the airing.
Bill Engvall led into a repeat of How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 6.29 million; A18-49: #1t, 2.2/ 7 at 8:30 p.m.), followed by repeats of Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #1, 10.50 million; A18-49: #1, 3.2/ 9), Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #2, 8.38 million; A18-49: #1t, 2.9/ 8) and CSI: Miami (Viewers: #1, 8.61 million; A18-49: #1, 2.3/ 6) from 9-11 p.m. Although I always say never judge a show by a repeat, CSI: Miami is eroding.
In season-premiere news, a two-hour edition of Nashville Star, now airing on NBC, averaged6.58 million viewers and a 2.2/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m., which is an improvement from its former run on cable net USA. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
Nashville Star (NBC) – season premiere
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.37 million (#4), A18-49: 2.1/ 6 (#4)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 6.33 million (#4), A18-49: 2.1/ 6 (#4)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.88 million (#2), A18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#1t)
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 6.73 million (#2), A18-49: 2.2/ 6 (#2)
Nashville Star led out of American Gladiators, which was stalled at the 8-9 p.m. gate with 5.61 million viewers (#4) and a 1.9/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#4). One season would have been enough for this light sports entertainment remake.
Week two of the return of ABC’s The Mole finished a distant third at 10 p.m., with a mere (and last-place) 3.96 million viewers and a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49. Earlier in the evening on ABC was another two-hour edition of mindless The Bachelorette at 6.39 million viewers and a 2.3/ 7 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m.
Fox fared better in the 8-10 p.m. block with its repeat combination of Bones (Viewers: #3, 5.86 million; A18-49: #1t, 2.1/ 7) and House (Viewers: #2, 8.00 million; A18-49: #2, 2.7/ 7). And lowly the CW capped off the evening with repeats of Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 1.08 million; A18-49: #5, 0.5/ 2) and One Tree Hill (Viewers: #5, 890,000; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1).
