CBS, cancel Swingtown now. It is just getting bad now. CBS is going from a show getting 7 million to a show that is barely struggling to get above 4.5 million. This show is dead.
Surprised Fear Itself won the night. It would be Hopkins if they give it a decent lead in. It's a shame they are letting a good show get ruined by two repeats as lead ins.
Yay for Fear Itself! I have become drawn to this show for some reason. Each episode is different and you don't know what to expect. I haven't liked all the episodes, but I find myself tuning in each week to see what they are going to be. Last nite's was gruesome, but suspenseful. And I like how they use recognizable TV stars from other shows. Regardless if it was a holiday nite or not, FI seems to have developed a steady following.
Wow, GA repeats are just sad. They are starting to qualify for the CW network.
You can't really judge off of a holiday night. The only reason numbers are so low is because of 4th of July.
ITA!!!
However, I don't see CBS picking up the show for another season unless the numbers rebound dramatically over the next few weeks. There are only four episodes remaining (the finale is scheduled for July 31st), and I'm thinking it would have to finish around the 6.5-7 million mark with a 1.8 demo to have any shot at a renewal. On the other hand, if it stabilizes around 5 million viewers for the remainder of the season, CBS might consider giving it a shot on Showtime, which is what I'd actually prefer. I really like the show as it shows a potential to be great, but the limits of broadcast television is just holding it back.

CBS has nothing to lose by canceling it but angering the fans who are still watching. They are out nothing if they air the eps as they won't win the July sweep anyway.

I wouldn't say it is "struggling" as that was it's first time below 5 mil. Also it was, as many people have said, a holiday night. I watched it and the episode last night was really good.
While I personally like "Hopkins", it has a limited range of interest, & prolly couldn't stand on its own on a major net. It might do very well on Discovery or a similar net-ette. It appears to be doing OK & should be a decent summer "filler" show.
Same for "Fear itself"...a decent summer "filler", should do OK on "USA" or similar.
"Swingtown" MIGHT be able to do OK in the Fall with a decent lead-in. I believe it's worth a try.
"Last Comic Standing" tanked once...Why did they bring it back? Resurrected flops almost all have a history of flopping again.
Fooey with the TV for awhile...Timeta go SWIMMING!
I enjoy Fear itself and clearly it has a loyal following. Although, even if "a win is a win" I don't put much to it. I mean seriosuly winning an hour when the networks average around 4.7 million and hoveraround 1.2-1.4 is nothing to brag about. Also, while Swingtown and Hopkins grew, Fear Itself was the only show to DROP in the demo.

My exact thoughts.

This remarkably steady performer deserves an order for another series of episodes next summer.
And what a chilling, turnabout episode viewers were treated to last night. This exceptional anthology suspenser has defined itself as a modern day Twilight Zone with ingeniously crafted multiple twist endings.
