And you have to think, somewhere, that a (probably Fox) executive is thinking after he watched 30 Rock- "All we have to do is just change the guys from 8th graders to 18-year-olds, change the setting to a mansion, and figure out a way to keep the FCC off our backs...we could call it "Cougar Castle"..it'd be perfect for the Post-AI slot next season- 15 million at least!"
I can understand why some people dont like 30 Rock, I personally love both 30 Rock and The Office (but I like The Office more) and both are very different in their own way. But I dont think you can call the show "bad," its just that its not your humor.
If you would never call ANY show "bad", then I respect your opinion, without sharing it.

And the scary thing is, it would probably be no worse than 30 Rock itself.

I'm guessing you've called a lot of shows bad.
Me too.
But there's a difference if a series has almost every single critic behind it or if it has a large audience, but critics dont really support it. Like Cavemen was completely panned and its audience was terrible; so there's a general consensus that Cavemen was a bad series. The same could be said for Big Shots, Cashmere Mafia, Viva Laughlin, etc.
But there are other shows that fall into a completely different category, like Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, 24, The Wire, Damages, The Shield, Mad Men, etc, which are all loved by critics and/or have high ratings. But there are definitely people out there that dont like those shows, but there is the general consensus that they're good in some way, or else there would be no critics or audiences that enjoy it.
Can you support that claim with any numbers? because a couple of posts ago there were numbers that showed it up slightly overall and no change in the demo. Other than the move from Tuesdays at 9 to Thursdays at 8 the number hasn't changed very much at all

pisher The Office is one of my favorite comedies, but I wasn't hooked immediately. The first season was not as good as the British comedy, but it got better and it's now just as good, if not better, than the original.
Secondly. Though I thought 30 Rock was bad last night, it has had several very funny moments. Here, watch the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTj47rcuM-4
If you don't find that funny then there is something wrong with you.

Survivor did nothing to Idol. If anything, Idol hurt Survivor and in the process hurt the entire CBS Thursday.
The sad thing is FOX would try something like that. If Moment of Truth can be a hit, any terrible reality show idea has a chance.

Even at 7 mil and 3.0 in the demo, Earl is a winner for NBC. The problem is viewers are turning off NBC in large numbers, regardless of the show. NBC's slate this year was weak and next year they need multiple shows to hit.
