Yes, episode 8 is supposed to be great -- which is why it would make a great mini-premiere after the first new Grey's... It looks like it would have much less effect on its own now.

Yeah, and I wouldn't blame them. At this point it seems like AI could air every single day and get 20 mil plus

You're entitled to your opinion of course but I am just curious... how do you figure?
Oh, don't egg him. He just hates Lost by principle. The episode was incredible well-written and acted and that is an actual truth. Whether the story is not to somebody's taste or not is a different thing, but there is no deny that there was some serious skill involved when the episode was made. That being said, I'm a little saddened by the viewers bleeding out episode-by-episode, but I won't mind as long as the it doesn't go below last season's levels. Anything with 2 digits before the comma is good.

They have some special charity AI episode scheduled for Thursday coming up as well.

I agree -- but with this drop-off, while being minor and gradual, I wish they would end this run at episode 7 and start back up with the Grey's lead-in at episode 8 (versus episode 9). Despite the quality of the episodes, the show is slowly bleeding viewers. Hopefully the DVR results will be higher in these two weeks that AI was on, but we won't really know that for a couple more weeks... DVR Numbers for the Feb. 7 Episode
Live +SD 15.29 million viewers
DVR viewers 1.37 million viewers
------------------------------------------
Live + 7 16.96 million viewers
I know -- I've seen that -- I'm talking about these past two weeks, when AI was on Thursdays for FOX, artificially fueling DFTL's ratings.

Let's be honest: Lost's numbers are very poor. I know it stays for another 2 seasons but if i were ABC i would not be happy to see Lost getting below 10 million in the coming seasons. Cause the trend is worrying. Let's not forget this season was amazingly hyped and it went mostly against repeats. If it drops further next week (when there's no AI) i think when it airs at 10 pm will b down in the 10 million range. And not even in demos is doing all that good. There were some American Gladiators episodes near 5 in demos
ES is not doing all that bad.

Just curious, do you have the same assessment of the ratings for Samatha Who? and Brothers & Sisters? Or is using a high-rated lead-in to boost a show's ratings only "artificial" when it's not ABC doing it?

Got the answer from medialife, for those interested: Eli Stone did get a 2.7 in the demo, while WAT got a 2.6, not 3.3 -- Marc, please correct that at the start of the thread.quote: Originally posted by Chimera: Marc, you said that Eli Stone finished first in the demo but show WAT with a higher demo number -- which one is it? quote: CBS was the most-watched network at 10 p.m. care of a repeat of Without a Trace, while ABC’s Eli Stone was first among adults 18-49. But retention of only 50 percent in the demo out of Lost still lands Eli Stone in the loser’s listing. Take a look:
Thursday 10 p.m. Without a Trace R (CBS) Viewers: 10.36 million (#1), A18-49: 3.3/ 9 (#1)
Eli Stone (ABC) Viewers: 7.46 million (#2), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#1)

It's hardly an issue and way too soon to push the panic button given that the show is already is contracted for a preset number of episodes. It's not like it's pulling Drew Carey numbers here and ABC never pulled the plug on that. quote: Originally posted by robert: Let's be honest: Lost's numbers are very poor. these numbers must be a lie. I read that 14 million was 'the floor'. It will be interesting to see if the DVR numbers go up each week, though. It really would not surprise me at all if they did.

I'm saying artificial because it was a special AI-airing as a lead-in. If that was its regular lead-in, I wouldn't say it, because it would count on that lead-in each week, as is the case of SW and B&S. But to answer your question within your question, I do believe that both SW and B&S can't stand on their own yet, and need the DWTS and DH lead-ins respectively to maintain their numbers for now. I've said it before too, and have been hammered by those that believe blindly in ABC. So, no, my statement was not slanted to just the FOX show, as you are alluding. But my statement is true, as you will see when DFTL's ratings go back down to 11-12 million after AI drops its Thursday run, and as MoT did dropping to 9 million when it left AI for a special Monday airing...
