You're entitled to your opinion of course but I am just curious... how do you figure?

Even though Lost fans apparently liked it, it did little for people who stopped watching the show in season 2 (like me). It was just not that interesting if you don't care about all the "mythology" anymore.

They just seem to rip off different genres each week. Paranormal, Bond movies, Trial series, Science-Fiction... Kung-fu next episode?

I agree -- but with this drop-off, while being minor and gradual, I wish they would end this run at episode 7 and start back up with the Grey's lead-in at episode 8 (versus episode 9). Despite the quality of the episodes, the show is slowly bleeding viewers. Hopefully the DVR results will be higher in these two weeks that AI was on, but we won't really know that for a couple more weeks...

Smallville got crushed by American Idol. American Idol lifted DFtL to a 9pm win.

ABC/CBS need to find some solution to fight back against the American Idol encroachment onto Thursday. For CBS, they just need to get back to first run programming. For ABC, it will take more drastic measures. They need to do something better in the 8pm timeslot. First Run Ugly Betty probably won't cut it and Lost encores definitely don't cut it.

That's what Lost is going to do....I think they will air episode 8 right when GA comes back on...

I've read and heard about the DVR ratings and lost does gain about 3 million viewers. They are one of the most DVR'ed shows on tv.

They changed the plans recently and moved episode 8 back to the original segment and decided to do 8 and 5 instead of 7 and 6.

No, they were going to do that but changed their mind and were going to go through episode 8 before going into a month hiatus. I'm saying to go back to that original strategy, and save an extra show for a better lead-in.

He's just trying to get a rise out of you -- he's been bashing LOST here this entire season...

IDK...from what I've been hearing about episode 8 is that its a barnburner.

I rather have the 8 episodes all together...then bring the new eps when GA and UB return.

hey are one of the most DVR'ed shows, but they don't gain 3million viewers. They only gain about half that amount.

Lost viewer dropoff: I am guessing that very few people are actually giving up on Lost right now. More than likely, they are just DVRing it to watch later in the week as they decide that it isn't 'must see' TV. So, as ratings drop the DVR numbers will rise and the Lost fans will claim that the DVR numbers are even more meaningful than in the past. Wink

I somewhat agree with you on that one. I think it should of been Amanda and Kady that should of left the girls and the guys choices were good to go too. Can't stand either of those guys...I hope Eze and Luke go next week. I actually agreed with Simon and thought Alaina would of been a dark horse to win. She was amazing the first week and pretty good the second week. Simon needs to stop commenting on outfits too when he belives in only 3 colors. These 3 rounds to get to the top 12, I believe no one is safe. Felt the same way to do a couple years back when this 17 yr old girl sang Reflections from C. Aguilera (she did an amzaing job) and voted off to a girl who forgot the lyrics the first week of the top 12 and was booted off. Stiff like that happens, but I think there's enough talent that I will still watch this season. I also liked Alexandrea a lot too, she was lacked confidence. I think she would of grown
as the comp progressed.

AI viewers made a terrible mistake by not voting for Alaina Whitaker, whose heartbreaking rendition of "Hopelessly devoted to you" was even more appropriate as she was voted off. Shame on Simon Cowell for saying she was old fashnioned -- I know he says things to keep the show interesting, but sometimes he goes overboard and his comments cost a solid singer a spot in the final 12. It's decisions like this that don't make me a regular AI fan -- hopefully others will likewise abandon the show after last night as I will do.

Well, the season finale of AI is not until the end of May sweeps as usual, but their Thursday run includes one more week -- next week.

But the way they are destroying the other networks, I won't be surprised to see them find a way to expand to 3 nights a week again come May sweeps.

Which is why I will again recommend that the other 3 networks better get their act together and schedule aggressively directly opposite Idol this Spring and next season. Kudos to NBC for being the most aggressive with DOND and Biggest Loser. DOND especially has been strong, but you really can't strip it to 5 times a week... ABC should really use DWTS opposite Idol on Tuesdays and blunt its effect. DWTS is the only ABC show that stands a chance. Perhaps CBS should schedule new eps of CSI opposite it...

How about a musical episode, with a singing competition on the Island? Loser gets eaten by the Monster. That might get some viewers back from the horrible DFTL on FOX...
