-Yesterday’s Losers:

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by the live American Idol Results show, Fox’s winning streak continued, further proving that Idol on any night of the evening can ignite the network to victory. Second was CBS, followed by ABC, NBC and the CW.

American Idol opened the evening with a hefty 25.91 million viewers and a 9.1 rating/24 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m., doubling CBS’ normally dominant Survivor: Micronesia (Viewers: 12.47 million; A18-49: 4.2/11). With four more Idol contestants history -- Alexandrea Lushington, Alaina Whitaker, Jason Yeager and Robbie Carrico -- that leaves 16 left. Over at the land called Survivor, don’t you think mixing the fans and favorites next week is too soon?

Also airing in the 8 p.m. hour was a repeat of ABC’s Lost (Viewers: #3, 5.18 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 4), two repeat episodes of NBC’s The Office (Viewers: #4, 4.09 million; A18-49: #3, 1.8/ 5) and a repeat of the CW”s Smallville (Viewers: #5, 1.80 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2). Damn that word repeat!

Leading out of American Idol, Fox’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics benefited at 9 p.m. with a first-place finish in total viewers. But ABC’s Lost still won the hour among adults 18-49. Take a look:

Thursday 9 p.m.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Fox)
Viewers: 14.56 million (#1); A18-49: 5.2/13 (#2)

Lost (ABC)
Viewers: 12.85 million (#2); A18-49: #5.4/13 (#1)

Capping off the 9 p.m. hour was a repeat of CBS’ CSI (Viewers: #3, 11.60 million; A18-49: #4, 3.0/ 7, NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice (Viewers: #4, 7.62 million; A18-49: #3, 3.1/ 8), and a repeat of the CW’s Reaper (Viewers: #5, 1.53 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2), which moved into the Thursday 9 p.m. hour yesterday. Based on next week’s preview, let’s hope that it is Omarosa who is history on Celebrity Apprentice.

CBS was the most-watched network at 10 p.m. care of a repeat of Without a Trace, while ABC’s Eli Stone was first among adults 18-49. But retention of only 50 percent in the demo out of Lost still lands Eli Stone in the loser’s listing. Take a look:

Thursday 10 p.m.
Without a Trace R (CBS)
Viewers: 10.36 million (#1), A18-49: 3.3/ 9 (#1)

Eli Stone (ABC)
Viewers: 7.46 million (#2), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#1)

Rounding off the hour was NBC’s Lipstick Jungle at just 5.75 million viewers and a 2.5/ 7 in the demo.

I think the producers of survivor had to mix the fans with the favorites. The fans are imploding and voting off stronger people instead of people like Chet or Kathy. At that rate, they would probably continue to lose most challenges until the merge.

WOW. DFTL did great last night.

And LOST is still bleeding viewers. Who would have think it given the lack of competition and, from PIF viewers opinions, a better season. What will moving to 10PM do to LOST come April?

That's a real shame for LOST. Beaten by "Lyrics" while airing what was probably one of the best episodes of the series so far.

And the steady drop in LOST's viewers week-to-week is also worrying me...

That's wierd!

I just saw on Zap2it.com thah Lost's ratings were 7.8/12, higher than last week's (7.7/12).

Now, i came here expecting something like 14 million viewers for Lost today and get 12.85 mil??

I simply dont understand this Nielsen system.

Lost isn't the phenomenon it once was. People are sick of the never ending questions. That's why the series lost me during season 2.

Marc, The Office was actually an hour long episode -- not 2 episodes. Not a big deal but just figured I'd let you know.

That's the power of the AI lead-in, I guess. Hopefully word of mouth spreads to catch the enhanced rerun next week. I really is a shame for the best episode of the season...

I know a lot of people don't care about the TIVO ratings and just what people watch in "real time" but...

New multi-network rating data that seems to be season averages shows a huge lift for Lost in DVR viewers. Lost had the third largest total DVR contribution beating out shows like House, Grey's Anatomy, and CSI.

Of the total views a week after air date (around 17.7 Million counting DVRs), 18% of the audience tivo'd the show. This works out to an average of around 3 million new viewers

Getting LOST since 2004

They've gotten better at answering questions and answered last night as well.

Well, last night's episode provided quite a few answers.

So who was saying Lost would average 15m this season? Big Grin

With episodes like yesterday, it is not surprising the show keeps bleeding viewers.
