Totally, I now see the errors of my way. It is clear that ABC would like to trade the top-rated PD or SW for something like Life, with a season average lower than the worse Christmas-period/repeats-sandwiched episodes of PD/SW.

Behold Life ratings triumph:

Look at those killer numbers. I bet Silverman is just giddy over how well his fall has went.

You know what, mushu_jj and Zitrone are right, it is much better for half of the people who have seen a show to decide that it isn't worth watching.

BTW: I never said that Life's numbers were great, but at least it isn't bleeding viewers like its competition DSM.

You mean, like Life? Only it started from much lower.

What happened to the CW and FOX?

Til Death and Back 2 You do not repeat well at all. FOX needs to pull them until they can get new episodes. Those two shows are killing the schedule. No matter how hard FOX tries, these comedies just aren't going to work. They didn't even get the Golden Globe nomination for Patricia Heaton that they were hoping for.

Crowned bombed. Less than 2 1/2 million for a premiere is terrible. It will fall under 2 million within the next two weeks. Good news is the CW new it was DOA and put it on during a dump month.

I'm shocked how poorly ANTM placed for a season finale but then again, the cast assembled for the season was terrible. Bring on the entertaining and engaging contestants, get rid of the platforms, and you will have a show people will watch. If not, it will continue to slide, like the rest of the CW.

Forgot to add that DSM should be pulled immediately. Those numbers are embarrassing. I still don't understand why it got a full season order. There's something in the ratings that I must be missing.

I believe our bet, Obveeus, was for the finale to beat 5.5 million. But since this isn't Florida in 2000, I'm willing to call this a push.

But I hope you agree that of all the contestants that started on this season, Short Saleshia with the bad haircut was hardly the best of the lot.

I already conceded defeat in the thread (last Wednesday) where the 'bet' was made. And, yes, Saliesha most definitely was NOT the best model. She should not have even been in the cast.

Wasn't she the girl who went to Tyra's T-Zone camp. If so, I think the fact that she knew Tyra and Tyra could use it to promote her camp may have been an influence. I agree that she wasn't a top model. That said, none of the top 3 were. They just had to work with what they had.

I heard about the conspiracy rumors about the "ANTM" winner. She was in Tyra's model camp (here's the article) for girls and she appeared on her talk show. Hmmm.... I wondered how someone would win "ANTM" with a Lois Griffin hairdo Big Grin

I'm not a fan or viewer of DOND by any means, but with the dire straits NBC is in now, I'm actually kind of pleased to see it gain a little bit of ratings magic back. Dunno if it'll ever be where it was last season on Monday nights at 8pm before DWTS moved there and eviscerated it, but... gosh, am I over my NBC bashing????

Pushing Daisies... eh. I'd care more about the ratings if I cared more about the show any longer (and I did love the pilot). There's no more produced episodes, so we can all put it out of our minds.

pushing daisies is history, sorry but it is at bionic levels...also, you can't blame a shows dismal performance on it being the only new show of the night...
Yes... you can.

Bionic (fast nationals) *viewers - *18-49
1.01 13.59 5.5/ 14
1.02 10.94 4.0/ 10
1.03 10.10 3.8/ 10
1.04 08.52 3.3/ 08
1.05 07.78 3.3/ 08
1.06 06.44 2.7/ 07
1.07 06.30 2.5/ 06
1.08 05.99 2.2/ 05

PD (final ratings)

1.01 13.03 4.3/ 13
1.02 10.26 3.7/ 11
1.03 09.85 3.7/ 10
1.04 09.67 3.2/ 9
1.05 08.57 2.7/ 8
1.06 08.83 3.1/ 9
1.07 07.48 2.2/ 7
1.08 09.99 3.7/ 9
1.09 06.85 2.4/ 7

Sorry, but PD is not at Bionic levels. The only episode to score below 7 million was the most recent with nothing leading out of it, and the only other performance under 8 million was a Thanksgiving episode where Private Practice drew mid 8 range. BW has had strong lead-in support on pretty much all airings, and is in a timeslot with higher HUT levels. It would be hard to see ABC not giving it a new season based on their performance this fall. The writer's strike most certainly would factor into that decision, however.

Marc, I note in passing that you didn't do Winners/Losers for this day, due to the extreme lateness of the fast nationals.

Would it be asking too much for you to do them now?

Or should we just guess? Wink

K-ville should be pulled immediately. Those numbers are embarrassing. I still don't understand why they keep broadcasting new eps. There's something in the ratings that I must be missing.

Hey, you HAVE to become a fan of the new CBS sitcom that will air on Mondays at 8:30pm. The name is perfect for you, and is a little shorter. Wink

Just as you thought NBC had put together a decent strike schedule, they go ahead and ruin Mondays. Quarterlife to air at 9pm Mondays after Baby Borrowers:

In fact, the only factor that can bring PD back is ABC not having enough time to order up anything else, with development temporarily ended by the strike.

There was no other first-run scripted English language program at 8pmEST, last Wednesday night. Not on the networks, not on cable. If you didn't want to watch reality shows, repeats, or Spanish language telenovelas, PD was the only other option. And what was the result? The ratings went down. A lot.

A show that depends on its lead-out being first-run is beneath pathetic.

Yes, BW did worse, and deserves to be canceled sooner--but just in case people have forgotten, BW was up against tougher competition. If they'd put it up against underperforming reality shows and sitcoms, it probably wouldn't have been canceled by now. And if PD had been up against BW's competition, we wouldn't still be talking about it.

If it had gotten a full first season, there would never have been any chance of a second season. The ratings would have continued to fall.

ABC is so confident of how well it'll repeat that existing eps will be reaired on Fridays, in tandem with DSM and WMC.

I'm sorry, but people who want to gloat here about PD will have to wait for it to get a full second season, and then a third season renewal.

In other words, forever.

Wink
