Wise to already prepare excuses for PD renewal. At least, wiser than those who really think it won't come back.
That's not an excuse , it's a fact. If the strike lasts the whole season PD and other poor rated shows will get a second season Actually i'm among those who think PD will get renewed even if the strike stops beacause ABC will hope the awards it will get might help the show next year. But the history proves that won't happen, just watch ehat nuumbers 30 Rock gets

ABC had 2/3 hours of repeats, Fox only 1/2. Yet Fox couldn't even get more viewers.

You mean, higher numbers and demo than last year?

Okay...Say PUSHING DAISIES does get renewed...
Can you imagine the low numbers its going to pull next season...it'll be akin to how FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS came back and its ratings are still cellar dwellers....

Between 8-10 PM they both had 1/2 repeats, and it's only fair to compare between those hours.

I think ABC will put a lot back into it if they do renew it and I'm not sure it will be a self starter. I still think the dopey scheduling has had as much to do with the dips as viewers simply not liking the show. quote: Originally posted by A.C.: Okay...Say PUSHING DAISIES does get renewed...

Pushing Daisies is miles ahead of 30 Rock and is still pulling in more viewers despite being a self starter.

Obviously you've forgotten the effect of the strike on ABC shows. I think Daisies will get a second season. You can't compare it to Moronic Woman because that show had a 10 million viewer lead in earlier this year and was losing a huge chunk of it. Daisies on the other hand, is a self starter and has been part of the Wednesday night monkey moves ABC has been making. quote: Originally posted by gdfriends: so a gain of .1 in the demos means it will make it to season 2? a 2.3-2.4 is horrible...just b/c you are a fan does not mean the show will make it to a 2nd season...by the looks of these numbers I would say it has -0- chance of that. quote: Originally posted by Zitrone: quote: Originally posted by robert: Really bad numbers for Pushing Daisies and Crowned. The fact that PD dropped half a million during the hour shows PD might get even worse if the strike ends
But gained in demo. And you're deluded if you really think PD won't get a second season.

Thank you for confirming that this is the lowest rated ANTM finale ever. I don't think that it has to do with December, but I do think that it has to do with the final 2 models. Tyra needs to separate her 'uplifting' goal a bit more from putting on a show to find the 'top model'. I will also agree that the premiere should be kept as 2 hours and I'll add that the finale should probably be spread out to 2 hours. Last night's episode felt so rushed. As for Crowned: it is really designed as filler between ANTM seasons, not as an actual show. Like Pussycat Dolls, it is just there to keep the seats warm, not to be a 'real show'. quote: Pushing Daisies... eh. I'd care more about the ratings if I cared more about the show any longer (and I did love the pilot). There's no more produced episodes, so we can all put it out of our minds.
I hope that ABC airs the reruns. I'm sure they will be low rated, like all ABC reruns, but this is one of the few ABC shows worth seeing a second time.

TRAVIS: Will you be seeing 'finals' for Wednesday or did the Nielsen counting problem mean that those numbers are not going to be available?
Side note for America's Next Top Model: The clothing line featured in the final runway show last night was easily the best clothing that has been featured in any of the season finales. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

But you can entirely "blame" the 10m/ 3.7 demo of last episode, two weeks ago, on having a huge lead-in? As for the experts really predicting a cancelation for PD (see you in a few months), I would be interested to see how they would program ABC next year. Since they would have to cancel every new show except PP.[/QUOTE You got it..nothing but failure for their new shows. Cavemen, Carpoolers, DSM, Big Shots, WMC, PD and probably SW (which can't survive without a Dancing Lead-in). Only PP looks like it can make it into a second season, and it AIN'T a Grey's Anatomy. What a terrible new show track record. ABC will be a shambles when Dancing returns and will finish the season in 3rd, maybe even 4th place. (NBC has announced a pretty good strike schedule) This will be worse than a replay of 06-7.

Kitchen Nightmares was the only new show on that night and overall did OK, not horrible, not great (but given the lead-in, pretty good). The other shows were repeats and probably did numbers along the line of what was expected by Fox. quote: Originally posted by Zitrone: quote: Originally posted by xwiseguyx: 3.0 demo during the second half of Kitchen Nightmares (the only original programming) is hardly horrible. quote: Originally posted by Zitrone: Another night of horrible ratings for Fox.
Right, what about the other three 1/2-hours? Or the fact that the sitcom TD repeats so poorly? Fox under-performs once again, without AI and House this network would be a complete failure.

Despite recent drops, mainly due to dumb programming, ABC has still had a better fall than any other network. CBS had two major flops, one success, and one good enough to fill it until next fall. NBC has had only one mediocre hit in Chuck. Fox has had two mediocre hits in Back to You and Kitchen Nightmares. CW has had nothing- no Gossip Girl doesn't count. ABC has been able to at least get through the fall with 3 new Wednesday shows and even has a decent comedy on their hands with Samantha Who, which imo will pick up again once Dancing Wars comes around.
