-Total Viewers:
CBS: 10.31 million, ABC: 6.70, NBC: 4.32, Fox: 3.85, CW: 1.81

-Adults 18-49:
CBS: 3.6 rating/11 share, ABC: 2.0/ 6, Fox: 1.3/ 4, NBC: 1.2/ 4, CW: 0.7/ 2

--------------------

Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 20 percent at this same point last year to approximately 28 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

----------

-Friday’s Winners:
2009 NCAA Basketball: Regional Semi-Finals, Day 2 (CBS)

-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats):
Wife Swap (ABC), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox), Everybody Hates Chris (CW), The Game (CW), Friday Night Lights (NBC), Dollhouse (Fox), Dateline (NBC)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
Day 2 of the 2009 NCAA Basketball: Regional Semi-Finals led CBS to victory with an approximate 10.31 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 in prime-time. Comparably, this increased over the year-ago match-ups (Viewers: 9.24 million; A18-49: 3.2/11 on March 28, 2008, based on the final nationals) by 1.07 million viewers and 12 percent in the demo. Keep in mind that fast affiliate results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

Second-place ABC started out slow but built slowly with its combination of Wife Swap (Viewers: #2, 5.54 million; A18-49: #2, 1.7/ 6), Supernanny (Viewers: #2, 6.52 million; A18-49: #2, 2.1/ 6) and 20/20 (Viewers: #2, 8.05 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 7).

NBC had nothing positive of note with its line-up of two repeat episodes of Howie Do It (Viewers: #4, avg. 3.61 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 1.0/ 4 from 8-9 p.m.), Friday Night Lights (Viewers: #3, 3.95 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 4) and Dateline (Viewers: #3, 5.39 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 5). Despite its ongoing anemic performance, rumor has it that NBC is about to make a deal with DirecTV for two more seasons of Friday Night Lights.

Elsewhere, Fox remained out of the competitive loop with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Viewers: #3, 3.83 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 5) and Dollhouse (Viewers: #4, 3.87 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 4), which did increase from Sarah Connor as it normally does. And the CW capped off the low HUT level evening with barely visible performances for Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: #5, 1.81 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2), The Game (Viewers: #5, 2.01 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3, which once had some traction, and an encore telecast of America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: #5, 1.71 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2). Chances are the CW will have no sitcoms on its line-up next season.

Keep in mind that Friday, April 10 is the season (or series) finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Prison Break returns to finish its four-season run in place of it on April 17.

You mean it DIDN'T increase--and this is weird--it did worse last night than it did against the Battlestar Galactica series finale?

And last week's ep, I kept hearing, was the one where Whedon finally produced the goods. Of course I kept hearing this from people who have a very different idea from most people as to what constitutes said goods.

1.3 in the demo. And it's not canceled yet?

If they want to work with Whedon again, why do they have to renew it?

I mean, after two consecutive flop series, with a flop movie in-between, not like anybody's lining up to steal him away.

I guess this will put any speculation at rest. Dollhouse is as dead as Elvis Presley. I'm sure there are some people who doubt both

Fox needs to give Dollhouse a chance on a night that is not Friday.

The Game (Viewers: #5, 2.01 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3)

That is a season high in viewers and in the demo. I think its kind of funny that this was dumped on Fridays, yet it almost beats some of The CW's "hit" shows.

Wife Swap (Viewers: #2, 5.54 million; A18-49: #2, 1.7/ 6)

That is also a season high in viewers. It is also the seventh time it has hit a 1.7 demo. I bet the ratings spike was due to the episode being quite funny last night. If anyone else watched, that kid was the devil!

I am not a big believer in the power of Internet hype to influence the Nielsen ratings, but I have to wonder now if all that Episode 6 hype helped prop the show up last week, even in the face of the BSG finale.

No excuses this week.

So they can have bad ratings on another night? It's pretty sad when the Saturday ratings for FOX beat the Friday ratings for FOX.

I think abc should scrap their entire fri night of scripted and or reality shows for next season and do what works for Lifetime on sat. night and that is a night of original movies. Marc please dont say abc should fill the night with Disney channel fodder because seriously it wont work.

There are a lot of people who have been saying since the beginning of the season that the comedies' numbers are unacceptable, but I have a feeling it will get a lot worse on this night if they get rid of them. That is, unless they do something like move One Tree Hill to this night.

I'm glad you made the point about Whedon and the future. You hear this about various producers, Berlanti I think last year was mentioned along these lines.

Darn that math. There are 5 networks. One is almost invisible. One other is crumbling. Two of them are so heavily branded that there are almost restrictions as to what they even look at. Such thinking also assumes these producers are children who will pick up their ball and go home if they are made unhappy.

ABC had a very nice night. Supernanny and 20/20 both did fantastic. Wifeswap, though, should probably be replaced with something else next season.

Dollhouse needs to go. Next week, I wouldn't be surprised to see SCC beat it. These ratings are inexcusable. I don't even see why FOX should finish airing the show. Why not just replace it with one of their reality/gameshows early?

I think you may be onto something--given how low the ratings are, even a small increase means something.

They were scared BSG would really decimate the ratings--so they talked up last week's ep online, saying "This is the gamechanger, don't miss it!"

Problem was, it wasn't a gamechanger--sure, some people bought into the hype, but many others were disappointed, and figured "If this is as good as it gets, I'm outta here."

Dude--they're still making excuses for Firefly.

Which a lot of them are, and a lot of them DO--but they come back as soon as they realize they don't have a ball--just an IDEA for a ball, and to actually make the ball they need the networks and their money. Wink

Whedon's fans keep asking why he doesn't go over to HBO or Showtime, or even one of the commercially-supported cable networks--and the reason is, he doesn't have good connections at any of them, and he doesn't win big mainstream awards (barely ever gets nominated), and he likes to spend LOTS AND LOTS of money.

I mean, look at the main Dollhouse set. Seriously--was this s**t really necessary?
