I guess this means that CBS will continue to be out of touch with the viewers that advertisers are willing to pay the most for.
CBS doesn't mind that but you are. Strange.
Do you have stocks or something? Are you losing money?
Your understanding of the world is limited if you believe that only people who own stock in CBS would be able to figure out that CBS is going to make less money with old folks shows than with shows that appeal to an audience that advertisers are willing to pay for.
But what i don't get is why DO YOU care about how well CBS does with the advertisers? As far as i know CBS won't go bankrupt anytime soon. So why are you happier if CBS does better with younger audiences than with older audiences

Um--now that you bring it up--why exactly do we care about ANY of this ratings crap?

Beacause some of my favourite shows might get canceled, that's the only reason really. And i know i can survive without those shows, but it's not all that bad to spend some hours watching something entertaining on TV

But what does discussing the ratings accomplish, in terms of keeping your shows on the air? Frankly, considering how some of your favorites are doing, the less said about their ratings the better.

I never said it was, but this all seems like people-in-glass-houses stuff. I don't think we should need any reason to discuss ratings other than the fact that we find it a pleasant diversion. We all grew up with TV, and it's a big part of our lives. Which explains a lot, when you think about it.
I agree it's a bit odd to care about the demographic fortunes of a network, if you don't work for or own stock in it. But is it any less strange to care about whether some steroid-enhanced multi-millionaires you've never met, playing a sport you either never played or really suck at, win a championship game you can't attend?
Most modern human activity is inherently meaningless. But it's better than nothing. I think.

I wish ABC would treat this show better but I guess they don't care about it.
Why are people always complaining that ABC does not treat this show right? It debuts last year on Fridays, does not do great, yet they still give it the prime post Grey's Anatomy time slot. It does badly there, yet they still bring the show back this season. Based on last years numbers, the show did not deserve to come back. But for some reason they brought it back. Then this season it starts out on Fridays again, and it does horrible numbers. At that point they could have just canceled it altogether, but they decided to give it ANOTHER chance in a better time slot, Wednesdays at 10. And there it still does horrible numbers. So what else could ABC do? Everything they have tried has not worked, and the show continues to perform very bad numbers. So be happy it has lasted this long, and stop complaining that they don't treat the show right.

I agree -- I liked the show, but it just has not clicked with the viewers. Time to go.

Well frankly most of my favorite shows are doing well Discussing doesn't accomplish nothing, but discussing sports or politics doesn't accomplish much either, it's just a way of expressing our opinions. Hopefully at least someone here cares about them
-- "According to Jim." ABC's perennial bubble show is looking likely to escape the ax one more time.
-- " 'Til Death" and "Back to You." Despite modest returns, both Fox comedies probably will return in the fall.
I must say woot, woot! Now if Unhitched gets renewed this will be the perfect pick-up time. All my favortie shows will be back.
In the ratings: *Moment of Truth is holding up well without American Idol as a lead in. *Wife Swap is now the strong one of the two (the other is Supernanny) American Idol definetly takes it's toll on both of these. *Law and Order is doing VERY well. I bet it will come back in the fall to the same time-slot. Why shouldnt it? *Good-bye Men in Trees! What horrible ratings.

It did averge over 8 million viewers and over a 3.0 in the demo.

As i said before, from a 40 million lead-in to get in just 7 weeks to 8 million is a bomb. If SCC would've been treated like Canterbury and it would've got 8 million thatn i would've agreed with those saying it's a success

What? Are you the one on drugs? Yes the show is expensive. Yes it lost some viewers along the way. In no way is it Viva Laughlin. Fox likes it and that's all that matters. The people on drugs are those at ABC who are returning disasters in Jim and Scrubs, two shows that deserved to die 2 years ago.
ABC is also giving DIRTY SEXY MONEY-the worst show of the new season a relaunch this fall.
