CBS: 2.5 rating/9 share, NBC: 1.6/ 6, Fox: 1.4/ 5, ABC: 1.2/ 5, CW: 0.5/ 2

Ho! Ho Ho! A Happy Holidays to all! And to anyone wondering how the networks fared on Christmas Eve, here goes:

CBS ranked first on this holiday Sunday, with an advantage over No. 2 NBC of an average 4.70 million viewers and 56 percent among adults 18-49. Due to the NFL football prime time overrun, all rating results on CBS, which appear as follows by half-hour, are approximate.

Viewers: 17.51 million (#1), A18-49: 5.3/22 (#1)

7:30 p.m. NFL Football Overrun / 60 Minutes
Viewers: 14.01 million (#1), A18-49: 4.0/17 (#1)

8:00 p.m. 60 Minutes
Viewers: 10.41 million (#1), A18-49: 2.6/10 (#1)

8:30 p.m. 60 Minutes / Cold Case (R)
Viewers: 7.82 million (#1), A18-49: 1.9/ 7 (#1)

9:00 p.m. Cold Case (R)
Viewers: 7.00 million (#1), A18-49: 1.8/ 6 (#1)

9:30 p.m. Cold Case (R) / Movie: A Very Married Christmas (R)

NBC opened the evening with Football Night in America at 2.41 million viewers (#3) and a 0.7/ 3 among adults 18-49 (#4) from 7-8 p.m., followed by the umpteenth telecast of holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life at 4.89 million viewers and a 1.7/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m.

ABC filled Christmas Eve with repeats of its regularly scheduled Sunday line-up -- America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #2, 5.20 million; A18-49: #2, 1.4/ 6), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: #2, 4.18 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 6), Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #4, 3.45 million; A18-49: #4, 1.1/ 4) and the increasingly addictive Brothers & Sisters (Viewers: #3, 3.12 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3).

Fox aired a repeat of American Dad (Viewers: #4, 1.95 million; A18-49: #3, 0.8/ 3) at 7 p.m., followed by repeat theatrical Spiderman at 4.19 million viewers and a 1.5/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 7:30-10 p.m.

The CW capped off the evening with two repeat episodes of Reba (Viewers: #5, 1.60 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2 from 7-8 p.m.) and two repeat episodes of 7th Heaven (Viewers: #5, 1.53 million; A18-49: #5, 0.5/ 2 from 8-10 p.m.).

WOW! Everybody did bad, but ABC was horrible. Why show DH on CHRISTMAS EVE! They should have shown the Santa Clause movie (1 or 2) again, instead of what they did!

I dont think the networks are up pulling their out about low ratings on CHRISTMAS EVE. I for one find it comforting people still actually turn off their tvs once in a while to visit with the real worl.d Of course, I'm not one of them, but still . . . Razzer

The top non-sports demo numbers were posted by the venerable 60 Minutes. There were four or five seasons in in the 80s and 90s where it was the number one show across all the networks. It just goes on and on like the Energizer bunny (my gratuitous holiday season product placement).

However weak the night may have been, and although it's certainly not by much, I'm still glad to see "REBA" repeats outperforming repeats of "7th Heaven."

(We "REBA" fans will take our victories where we can get 'em, however small!)
