Galveston

Smallville and Supernatural might have a smaller drop then normal. Apparently the game was delayed for over a an hour and a half. So I would expect less local fans to be watching the game then normal. Less viewers watching the game equals less viewers getting pulled out of the final numbers.

Of course a delay means that the show didn't actually air until nearly 2am. So we wont gain many thinks to DVR's for same day. But I still think it will cause a smaller then normal drop for both shows.

It will probably prevent Smallville from hitting a series low.

Still doesn't change the fact that SN numbners stuck to high heaven.

And yeah for the night what a waste overall. Only 39.06 million watching the 8pm hour and only 50.53 million watching the 9pm hour. It might be the lowest Thursday with originals that are normally scheduled programming.

I'm a fan of Supernatural, but the show is getting old.
Season 1 was brilliant, but the quality has been dropping ever since.

Well, I agree, and not. Season 2 had a lot of very good episodes, but season 3 has been a bit disappointing. I'm hoping, that like the writers of Lost, who decided to get their shit together and finally managed to make the show what it once was, Supernatural will follow suit and get back to what made the show great in the first place.

Despite what pisher says, there is still a lot to be resolved in SN. I just hope the writers recognize that it's the characters that make Supernatural the gem it is.

Oh, pshaw. Season two of SN was far superior to season one. By leaps and bounds. Everyone's in a funk because the numbers are so bad. They'll reboun and all will be right with the world. Numbers are great. The show has never been better, yada yada yada....

Maybe after these results people can stop whining about how low Desperate Housewives ratings have been. It's quite obvious from Thursday's ratings that all of network television is suffering a hit. I don't know if it can all be blamed on the writer's strike; network TV has been losing viewers to cable and the internet for a long time now, and there's no reason to believe that will change anytime soon, especially with all the game show/ reality crap on the networks.

As far as 30 Rock goes, it's a shame because it's a brilliant show that simply cannot find an audience. It's unfortunate because I actually think it's just too intellectual for the average viewer, watching American Gladiator--that's the problem. I think it's pretty low to say that Tina Fey is sleeping with everyone to keep her show on the air--she's an extremely talented comedy writer as shown from her time on SNL and writing the movie Mean Girls. Her new movie Baby Mama, is also getting great reviews, so lack of talent is not the problem; the average viewer just doesn't want to think that hard. Some stupid game show or reality show is what they're looking for, and that's why American network TV is in such decline.

I do remember The Office also taking a while to find its audience, although it is still far from a mass hit. Hopefully, NBC will be just as patient with 30 Rock because it deserves it.

I always do.

And nobody needs to watch every episode of a show to see the same predictable creative trends occurring, time after time.

You know why their "The mystery of their mother's death is unsolved!" argument is so lame?

Because the writers have no intention of resolving that anytime soon. It isn't driving the narrative--it never did. Most people don't care who killed their mom--she was dead years before the show started.

And they could resolve that 'mystery' (gee--could it have been some demonic entity who killed her?) in one ep, if they had to. That's not a reason for people to hang around, week after week.

SN gets lousy ratings, and nothing's going to change that. But it's on a network that gets nothing BUT lousy ratings. Why can't SN fans just enjoy their show? Why do they have to blame somebody for the fact that it's never going to be The X-Files of the 00's. Sheesh, it's not even the male version of Charmed.

ER at 7.35 million viewers and a 2.9/ 8 among adults 18-49

Not a single show able to crack 8 million viewers.

I would not be surprised if next season, NBC only has 2 shows that crack 10 million on a regular basis (LO: SVU and Heroes)

Hermitme, sweetie, I'll agree that season three has suffered from some inconsistency, but it's also aired three of the best episodes of the entire series: Fresh Blood, A Very Supernatural Christmas, and Jus in Bello. I'll always maintain that season two was better than season one overall. SN's not a horror show. It's a family show that happens to be based in horror adn you're right, it's character based. Season three suffered from the strike, the concessions and short cuts it necessitated, and from the very detrimental Bela. That was Ostroff's doing. Now that they're going back to the basics in seaon four, I look forward to it even more.

Like I was saying, fans are very "What have you done for me lately?" If the numbers go back up next week, all will be right with the world and with the show. If the numbers are up, it's all great. If they're done, everything sucks. Such is life in a TV forum. Big Grin

Which is why I'm confused why you keep picking on the show. The mysteries have not all been solved, so don't go down a road you are unfamiliar with. SN gets lousy ratings compared to mainstream tv, wow, great observation on your part Pisher, so do all the CWs other shows. Not hard to understand. It won't be the X-Files for many factors, most of all, it's on the CW. I find some of SN's episodes better than the X-Files and the acting more so.

The story is not about Mary or how she was killed, duh! There is more involved, but, hey, you've seen one you've seen them all. The mysteries, unlike Lost, do not keep coming without resolutions, that's only for your show. Don't base your dissatisfaction with your show on ours.

That being said, I have to go. I do have a life outside of boards.

Scrubs is no Superman, but you have to give it props for holding its lead-in's demo.

Apparently you need to watch it every week , pisher. Big Grin We already know who killed her. I wasn't talking about that. Try again. You really should watch a show before you criticize.

Are you sure you want to put heroes on that list? I'd replace it with Sunday Night NFL.

I wouldn't be surprised either. Will anything but Idol, CSI, DH, and Grey's break 10 million next year? Network television is in free fall.
