CSI's numbers are a bit alarming, as the show is as strong as ever, creatively speaking. My guess is when the DVR numbers come in the picture will change considerably.
You mean Grey's will thoroughly kick CSI's butt in both measures? Because I suspect that.
greys kicked no ones butt yesterday...sorry but its numbers are wayyyy off its normal levels...i think the viewers are the only ones who have "kicked butt" yesterday
Actually, Greys was only down 1 million from its last original episode. That's really not end of the world bad for them. It could still rebound. CSI, on the other hand, fell 2 million from its last original just 2 weeks ago and is down by more than 3 million from its first original post-strike episode. Not a good sign for anyone, but worse news for CSI if you ask me.

They've told all the story they've got to tell, several times over. All they're gunning for now is to get to that golden syndication season--but even if they do, the best syndication venue they can hope for is the SciFi Channel. I understand that some people love the characters, and just want to hang out with them every week, forever--it's that way with every show. But the sad truth is, if SN ran long enough, they'd eventually get to that "John Winchester had an illegitimate son he kept secret from Sam and Dean, who will now take the place of the Winchester brother played by the actor who wanted too much money or thought he could have a movie career" storyline. Seriously, as awful as CW is, they have done fine by SN. They have kept it on longer than its ratings warranted. On any other network, it wouldn't have made it past season two--on a major network, it wouldn't have made it all the way through season ONE. Why is it so hard to just enjoy the show, and stop worrying about who else enjoys it? Oh right, it's Supernatural.
Nice try, pisher. I'm not biting. Not all the mysteries have been solved; last night's episode was orginal and different for the series. Don't criticize a show you've never watched. You gave yourself away with the "all mysteries have been solved" line, you naughty boy. You aren't familiar with it or you'd have known about the unsolved secret of Mary. The last ep scored a season high in ratings. People loved it. These numbers are so low (and will be lower still in finals after Chicago's preemption is sifted out) that I think no one realized it was back. It's positively bizarre, so bizarre it's almost a comfort. From 3.22 million to below 2 million? That's strange. My own mother called me and asked why it wasn't on. She saw the intro with Ed and Harry and thought SN wasn't on. She turned off her set. Go figure.

Reaper pulled those sort of numbers with a lead in that was had a 0.8 in the demo and less than 2 million viewers.

A temporary blip, mushu. It's surprising, but SN will rebound. The problem is, Reaper always pulls those kind of numbers. There's a reason it hasn't yet been renewed.

While I can agree with some of your rant, the fact is, SN is one of the CW's highest rated scripted shows that has held on exceptionally well in the timeslot of death and it the CW cancelled SN on it's ratings, then it would have to cancel the other 80% of its shows that are lower rated, including Gossip Girl, Reaper, and OTH. So, this would leave the CW with nothing, since most of its reality shows crap out also. SN has done well for itself and Kripke has stated many times that it will not go beyond 5 years, which most fans seem to concur it's a wise decision. As for the CW doing fine by SN, please. We don't consider SN to be the CW's red-headed step-child for no reason. Also, I don't worry who's not enjoying it, I worry whether it will be around for me to enjoy it.

As alarming as Idol's????
Idol has the luxury of re-starting every year. If there are a crop of interesting singers or a major controversy, that could always gin up ratings-interest again in the show.

And a lot less competition. Wow, what a feat!

Why no, of course not. How silly of me. I should have known you'd never respond to such obvious provocateur tactics. quote: Not all the mysteries have been solved; last night's episode was orginal and different for the series.
That's not what a lot of SN's fans are saying, right here on this thread. And like it or not, obviously it was just a one-off--the fact remains that the storylines introduced in the pilot are all resolved. The boys found their dad, they know why Sam's girlfriend died, they worked out their personal conflicts for the most part. Show over. quote: Don't criticize a show you've never watched.
I have watched it. Not lately, no. I'm not alone in that, am I now? What you mean is "If you don't watch every single episode, you have no right to criticize it, and if you do watch every single episode, you must like it." I'm not saying anything bad about the show itself--its VIEWERS are doing that. By changing the channel. quote: You gave yourself away with the "all mysteries have been solved" line, you naughty boy. You aren't familiar with it or you'd have known about the unsolved secret of Mary.
Oh right--they must be saving that for the finale. Better not wait too long. quote: The last ep scored a season high in ratings. People loved it. These numbers are so low (and will be lower still in finals after Chicago's preemption is sifted out) that I think no one realized it was back.
Dude--real cult show fans know when their cult show show is on. That excuse doesn't work with this kind of show. quote: It's positively bizarre, so bizarre it's almost a comfort. From 3.22 million to below 2 million? That's strange.
Okay, so if it's 3.22mil or higher next week, you've got a point. But if not.... [qutoe] My own mother called me and asked why it wasn't on. She saw the intro with Ed and Harry and thought SN wasn't on. She turned off her set. Go figure.[/quote] Yeah. Go figure why a youth-oriented cult horror show that fans talk about with their mothers isn't doing well.

That's true. I forgot nothing else was new except the fading Lost while Reaper aired. Damn, the CW's ratings as a whole are sucking eggs lately. It's embarrassing. Now SV and SN are joining the suck pack. That's got to put a gnawing feeling in the collective pit of the CW suits' stomachs. Pisher, you're so funny. I'll never match your acerbic wit. How could I have been so foolish as to try? You're very sexy when you attempt to be a smart ass. blows kisses at Pisher. I think you have a crush on me, bad boy. Rowrrrrrr..... I love teen smart asses in the morning. Come to your cougar....

But he does have a point. I'm a fan of Supernatural, but the show is getting old. Season 1 was brilliant, but the quality has been dropping ever since.

Guys, please show me where I said I was a regular viewer of Supernatural. We've had this discussion before. For the record, these are the network shows I regularly watch now-- The Office Lost How I Met Your Mother (some weeks) The Simpsons (some weeks) Family Guy (some weeks) American Dad (some weeks) Sorry, but I've got a life. Not to mention cable.
