Greys is really beyond redemption now--but CSI has likewise lost its mojo. They knocked each other out, I guess.

no one "whomped" anyones but yesterday...both shows were at season lows...

You know, nobody likes to diss CW more than me. Nobody.

But some people should try and face the fact that SN's ratings are mainly about SN. It was never a hit, and the concept has gotten progressively more tired and repetitious. All the mysteries presented in the pilot have been resolved. They've told all the story they've got to tell, several times over. All they're gunning for now is to get to that golden syndication season--but even if they do, the best syndication venue they can hope for is the SciFi Channel.

I understand that some people love the characters, and just want to hang out with them every week, forever--it's that way with every show. But the sad truth is, if SN ran long enough, they'd eventually get to that "John Winchester had an illegitimate son he kept secret from Sam and Dean, who will now take the place of the Winchester brother played by the actor who wanted too much money or thought he could have a movie career" storyline.

Seriously, as awful as CW is, they have done fine by SN. They have kept it on longer than its ratings warranted. On any other network, it wouldn't have made it past season two--on a major network, it wouldn't have made it all the way through season ONE.

Why is it so hard to just enjoy the show, and stop worrying about who else enjoys it?

Oh right, it's Supernatural.

Did the fact that CW30 in Utah started broadcasting the second half of Smallville by mistake at 8:30 make people turn it off in droves? I'd love to see some half hour breakdowns. I thought it was one of the cleverest episodes they ever did, but apparently a lot of people disagreed.

All of the above, plus there was some sports thing in Chicago that pushed SPN back till after midnight. Lack of promotion kept people from knowing a new episode was on--die hard fans knew, but how many die-hard fans have the oh-so-important Nielson box?

I had to make myelf keep watching, waiting for the guys to come on. Those first 12 minutes were dead boring, I came very close to switching it off myself.

I just hope people's disappointment with this episode doesn't keep them from watching the last three eps. Assuming those not-die-hard-fans-with-the-Nielson-box know there's a new episode next week!

Marc is showing a 4.8. That's a big difference... Who's right?

Either way, I think ABC might have just found the solution to their woes in the post Grey's slot.

I agree. The only show that has come back post-strike both creatively and ratings-wise is Boston Legal. (I love that Boston Legal has a higher demo and viewer number than UB did this week.) Grey's was pretty bad last night, as was Brothers and Sisters Sunday. I wasn't particularly thrilled with Lost last night, and The Office returned sub-par as far as I'm concerned (esp. the dinner party).

The bang for my buck this spring has been Survivor. Hard to believe in its 16th season it's as good as ever. I'm glad to see its viewer numbers were up from last week.

And both DESERVED to be, but as pyrhhic a victory as it unquestionably was, Greys clearly beat CSI. It wasn't a near thing at all. CSI would have to be ahead by several million in total viewers, with Greys that far ahead in the demo--just to tie.

Games, Games, Games and.... More Games

The PI Feedback is becoming a place for games. Games about TV and the ratings.
Here are what we have available going into the May Sweeps.

The Daily Game
Each day we pick one show and you guess how many Total Viewers it will get and it's 18-49 demo rating. Accumulate Medals to see how well you can do with the other players.

The PI Feedback Challenge
This game, you pick 5 shows, one from each network, that you will think will do the best over a 4 week period. Play more games and make a run for the PIFC Cup, a "season" long race for who does best in the PIFC. New Games debut on Thursdays/Fridays of each week.

The PI Feedback Challenge May Sweeps Game
An extention of the PI Feedback Challenge game. For the may Sweeps, there is a new twist. Each day you can best up to 20 Berman Bucks, based on what you think the 18-49 ratings will be for the shows you select. The winner will be the person who has the most Berman Bucks at the end of the May Sweeps.

The 2nd Annual Lemon Awards
Help us celebrate and award the WORST in TV this season. Part 1 voting is now live. Select who you think is the Worse Actor is in a Drama Series. What was the Worse Strike-Filler program? and who will win this years Lifetime Un-Achievement Award?

Except that they'll still need strong lead-ins for their new dramas, and they don't have many left. True, Greys hasn't been very good at introducing new shows--neither has Lost, you will recall.

ABC needs to find new hits--their current crop is aging quickly. That's Job One, not propping up old stalwarts.

Blame the CW for showing the inferior Reaper in SuperNatural's timeslot for several weeks and the CW for not airing this episode a week earlier when the attention and competition would have been lower.

Waaa waaa. Supernatural fans crying because their show can't hold up despite being in season three. Give me a break.

CSI's numbers are a bit alarming, as the show is as strong as ever, creatively speaking. My guess is when the DVR numbers come in the picture will change considerably.

You mean Grey's will thoroughly kick CSI's butt in both measures? Because I suspect that.

greys kicked no ones butt yesterday...sorry but its numbers are wayyyy off its normal levels...i think the viewers are the only ones who have "kicked butt" yesterday

If these two do return for syndication purposes, I know where I'd slot them if I were McPherson: Saturdays 10pm starting Memorial Day Weekend 2009.

I can't wait until it's on ABC. Hopefully it'll do well and folks like Marc will STFU already. And it'll be sweet revenge on NBC.

Surprisingly, on a year-over-year basis against last years finals, ABC had the smallest decline in A18-49 demographic:
web	demo	demo	%
web	2008	2007	chg
ABC	4.80	5.20	-8%
CBS	4.00	4.77	-16%
NBC	2.90	3.20	-9%
FOX	2.30	2.70	-15%
CW	1.20	1.40	-14%

you can thank lost for that...but if you were to do just the 8-10pm levels you'd probably see upwards of 30% decline...

Well I don't blame the CW for trying Reaper out in another slot. But any interruption can effect viewer levels. But the fact that the reruns since have been in the normal range that shouldn't have been a major factor. Probably the biggest factor was having this type of episode starting the show up.

They should have probably broke format and shown the cast at the beginning. Also having a new episode last week couldn't have hurt.
