I understand. We may be arguing semantics, but network television is having serious problems. That's the bottom line we can both agree on. TV's never going to be as big as it was in the late 80s and early 90s again. Too many other options.[/QUOTE] I do agree.

quote: Oh Puh-Lease. You try to make out that you actually have a point by belitteling people, but it's just not happening. Pisher does the same thing, but the thing is, he actually has a valid point. Now please, run along to the life you apparantly have, or go jerk off to Rosie O-Donnell. And just incase you haven't noticed, all tv isn't on the downfall. Lost is up from last year, it's DVR'd by around 2-3 million people, yet it still always manages to make the Top 5 on iTunes. Just face it, Supernatural is on the downfall.
Now that's hostile. Gosh, you're right. It's me and SN fans who are the nasty ones, yes sir. You and Pisher sure told me. Wow.

If you hadn't noticed the Supernatural banner in my signature, I'm a fan of the show. But unlike you, I'm unbiased.

CSI: -17% among viewers, -22% among A18-49 Office: -23% among viewers, -22% among A18-49
Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy did okay, with just mild declines, while Lost did very well in its return. We'll see how much that is offset by the Grey's overrun.
Ugly Betty: -4% among viewers, -14% among A18-49 Grey's: -9% among viewers, -11% among A18-49 Lost: +8% among viewers, +4% among A18-49
Russ are those percentages from before the strike or compared with last year? Seems like Ugly Betty fell a lot more than 4%! And didn't Grey's fall more than CSI?

Did the fact that CW30 in Utah started broadcasting the second half of Smallville by mistake at 8:30 make people turn it off in droves? I'd love to see some half hour breakdowns. I thought it was one of the cleverest episodes they ever did, but apparently a lot of people disagreed.
i agree its very weird. and when you look at SN it always had a loyal fanbase. So this is just more then weird. Hope viewers will be back next week. SN is the best show CW has (correction only good show)

I completely forgot about SNF. But that still just makes it 3 series. I think Heroes will stay above 10 Million quote: Originally posted by Obveeus: quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: I would not be surprised if next season, NBC only has 2 shows that crack 10 million on a regular basis (LO: SVU and Heroes)
Are you sure you want to put heroes on that list? I'd replace it with Sunday Night NFL.

quote: Originally posted by galveston: quote: Originally posted by pisher: You know, nobody likes to diss CW more than me. Nobody. But some people should try and face the fact that SN's ratings are mainly about SN. It was never a hit, and the concept has gotten progressively more tired and repetitious. All the mysteries presented in the pilot have been resolved. They'v e told all the story they've got to tell, several times over. All they're gunning for now is to get to that golden syndication season--but even if they do, the best syndication venue they can hope for is the SciFi Channel. I understand that some people love the characters, and just want to hang out with them every week, forever--it's that way with every show. But the sad truth is, if SN ran long enough, they'd eventually get to that "John Winchester had an illegitimate son he kept secret from Sam and Dean, who will now take the place of the Winchester brother played by the actor who wanted too much money or thought he could have a movie career" storyline. Seriously, as awful as CW is, they have done fine by SN. They have kept it on longer than its ratings warranted. On any other network, it wouldn't have made it past season two--on a major network, it wouldn't have made it all the way through season ONE. Why is it so hard to just enjoy the show, and stop worrying about who else enjoys it? Oh right, it's Supernatural.
Nice try, pisher. I'm not biting. Not all the mysteries have been solved; last night's episode was orginal and different for the series. Don't criticize a show you've never watched. You gave yourself away with the "all mysteries have been solved" line, you naughty boy. You aren't familiar with it or you'd have known about the unsolved secret of Mary. The last ep scored a season high in ratings. People loved it. These numbers are so low (and will be lower still in finals after Chicago's preemption is sifted out) that I think no one realized it was back. It's positively bizarre, so bizarre it's almost a comfort. From 3.22 million to below 2 million? That's strange. My own mother called me and asked why it wasn't on. She saw the intro with Ed and Harry and thought SN wasn't on. She turned off her set. Go figure.
Also pisher can't say that it would have been canceled in the 1st season if it had been on a bigger network. because if it was on a bigger network it would have had more viewers. Because it would then reach more livingrooms. Also say that it is very weird with the ratings today because SN has always had a very loyal fanbase

I wouldn't be surprised either. Will anything but Idol, CSI, DH, and Grey's break 10 million next year? Network television is in free fall.
I'M SORRY THAT POST IS JUST NOT WRIGHT.. HE WAS TALKING ABOUT NBC.. NOT ALL THE NETWORKS!!!!!! MANY SHOW WILL HIT OVER 10 MILLION VIEWERS AND T.V IS NOT ON A FREE FALL. ITS JUST DOWN BECAUSE OF THE STRIKE. JUST BECAUSE ONE NIGHT SHOW WERE DOWN DOSE NOT ME THAT T.V IS ON A FREE FALL.
Walter, Calm down. TV is in a free fall. It has been for about 25 years now. Since Cable TV hit the market, the Broadcast nets ahve been losing viewership almost each and every year.

I'm a little surprised with Grey's numbers last night. CSI I’m not! I’m not a loyal watcher, but with no new episodes because of the strike they brought it back for one new episode and than another repeat! After repeats for so long think they rushed things. They should have waited like abc did by airing 6 back to back new episode.
Survivor is fading but still a mid level hit for CBS. W/o a Trace holds on good to CSI lead, but since moving back the show is fading too!
Lost did as well as expected. ABC has hurt the show by moving it to 10. But the numbers were up slightly from the last new episode which is something to be happy about. Good fit.
NBC is out on Thursday! Next season don't think anything will change. They moved Scrubs and 30 rock and both numbers went down. The office was never a huge hit but the numbers are growing. NBC’s only semi-hit for the night.
CW- What is happening with this network? Back when they we separate they would cancel shows that were getting ratings that most of their shows are getting. SN was a bit of a shocker. That’s almost the same numbers as last weeks repeat.
Let’s hope fans don't know the shows are new and start picking up watching again soon! Think next season will be the true test! Fans may be waiting to watch the shows on dvd. Refresh their memories and catch up before new shows next year!
