Reaper pulled those sort of numbers with a lead in that was had a 0.8 in the demo and less than 2 million viewers.
And a lot less competition. Wow, what a feat!
Competition wasn't a pushover. Both Dancing and Hell's Kitchen are strong there and Reaper pulled decent enough numbers against Lost, which skews very similar to it. I don't see a single thing that is sci fi/mystery like in the Thursday 9pm hour now. It should've done better with the lead in.
Not if it's Supernatural, I shouldn't. I'm quite happy to go on being misinformed, if that's the price of information. Although we both know I could learn every single major plot twist on fansites or Wikipedia.
If it's not her murder, it's not dealt with in the pilot (which I watched in its entirety, and thought it only kinda half-sucked), which means they introduced it later on--shows running out of stories always do this, and it rarely works. Well, that's just a wild guess, based on too many years of watching bad genre shows--let's see if I'm right--
Dude. This is a SEASON arc, not a SERIES arc. It's been retconned in. They'll probably resolve it this year, and if they don't, they've got another whole season, right?
It's pretty sad that I can average about one SN ep a year, and still understand it better than somebody who probably watches every single episode ten or twenty times.
Nope, you still don't know what plot point I'm talking about. It was hinted at in a season one episode, not retconned in. I give you props, though. You are trying hard to rattle chains. You're adorable. I love tenacity. BTW, I'm not a dude.
No Walter, that was hermitme who had to go. I can stay. And network television is in free fall, yes.

Ah--it was HINTED at. Translation: The fans spackled it in, and the writers are running with it. I've seen THAT before, too.
Even fewer people care what gender you are than care what Supernatural plot point you're talking about. But in any event, isn't dude kind of universal? You'd have preferred I add in an 'ette'?
Enjoy your show. Stop whining about how nobody loves it. It doesn't help the show one bit. It just people who don't watch SN hate it for spawning such a pack of whiners.
Which wasn't the case when I first came here, but can I just ask--did you completely miss my reference to having cable? Or do you just not think cable shows count as shows?
Congratulations on having cable, that still doesn't explain why someone who regularly watches only an 1.5 hours a week (Lost & The Office) of Network TV, spends many times taht amount commenting about on a Overnight Ratings for Network TV message board.
I don't know, Walter. Ratings are starting to suck ass across the board. With all the online and itunes opportunities to watch, and the fact that cable shows aren't hampered by FCC restriction, network tv can't help but suffer. Young people play video games. They aren't watching tv like they used to do.

I'm sorry, what's YOUR explanation for that? Mine is a lot of downtime at work. Do you even have a job?

Score! Hostility. I knew I still had it. I'm not losing my touch. Don't worry, Pisher. I'm sure you can still get under everyone else's skin. You are so naughty that way.

They are not,
But i think u exagerated a bit when saying it on a free fall.

I'm glad many other viewers start seeing it. CSI's numbers are a bit alarming, as the show is as strong as ever, creatively speaking. My guess is when the DVR numbers come in the picture will change considerably.
You mean Grey's will thoroughly kick CSI's butt in both measures? Because I suspect that.
greys kicked no ones butt yesterday...sorry but its numbers are wayyyy off its normal levels...i think the viewers are the only ones who have "kicked butt" yesterday
I think people's expecations are 'way off' and not these numbers Seems to be in line with how it's performed this season, especially if you you consider a 10-15% drop due to DST from these fall/winter numbers:

Supernatural had nobody but themselves to blame with their horrible camera action. Even Cloverfield had better camera work, and I couldn't stand Cloverfield.
Nobody could stand Cloverfield, so how the hell did it make 80 million dollars? By the studio very cleverly promoting it for a big opening weekend--by the time people figured out it was crap, they'd already spent their money.
Not a viable strategy for SN, sadly.
It's never a viable strategy for television shows period. Isn't Friday Night Lights done with the same camera action?
Originally posted by galveston: A temporary blip, mushu. It's surprising, but SN will rebound. The problem is, Reaper always pulls those kind of numbers. There's a reason it hasn't yet been renewed.
Apparently you have memory loss because Reaper pulled as high as 2.9 million behind Smallville just one month ago. Feel free to head back to Supernatural delusion land now.
No question that the ratings for SN this week are pathetic.
But to compare Reaper's performance to SN's isn't really the wisest thing.
You would need to compare the shows and situations. And at the closest comaprisons (Originals with original leadins, same competition with originals, or reruns with rerun leadins) of which there are three episodes of each to compare, Supernatural averaged higher. In viewers, in adults 18-49 and in adults 18-38. Again both for originals and reruns.
Now of course we could always compare the shows at their very worst (of which to date this is clearly SN's by nearly half a million in viewers), but to do that we would also need to compare Reaper's very worst. And clearly Reaper not only averages worse in both total viewers and both sets of demos. It also (so far, finals might change this) has teh lowest in viewers.
Now you can argue that Reaper has less lead in (Which is valid), but it also airs with less competition. So which is the bigger factor. Now before it aired on Thursday, It would be easy to say lead in. But since it has aired on Thursday (even a diminished Thursday) and performed nearly the same as on Tuesday, it might make your arguement weaker. And it still didn't manged to perform better then its Tuesday average or Supernatural.

Oh Puh-Lease. You try to make out that you actually have a point by belitteling people, but it's just not happening. Pisher does the same thing, but the thing is, he actually has a valid point. Now please, run along to the life you apparantly have, or go jerk off to Rosie O-Donnell. And just incase you haven't noticed, all tv isn't on the downfall. Lost is up from last year, it's DVR'd by around 2-3 million people, yet it still always manages to make the Top 5 on iTunes. Just face it, Supernatural is on the downfall.

I mean your not wrong your just not right either.
Do u understand what im saying?[/QUOTE]
I understand. We may be arguing semantics, but network television is having serious problems. That's the bottom line we can both agree on. TV's never going to be as big as it was in the late 80s and early 90s again. Too many other options.
