I'm glad that Worst week is improving in the ratings and that CBS is standing by it -- it really is a funny show. I'm shocked and amazed that big bang and mother both got above 10 million -- that is great!

I'm starting to think that NBC just doesn't have the platform or the viewers to fully promote heroes and chuck or anything else on their network.

Does anyone else think Leno is just plain stupid? I love and watch Jay Leno but really wish that he would have moved to ABC. This feels like a katie couric move to me. His ratings would have to double and if they don't it would be considered a failure and NBC is not exactly a great network ratings wise. ABC would have made him king, promoted him like crazy, given him the money he deserves and Kimmel a great lead in and higher ratings. NBC is a sinking ship and I'm sorry but to put the office after the superbowl and not put heroes or chuck is just a plain dumb move. They need more help on Mondays. They seriously need to fire their programming executive -- they should be developing the next Friends... ugh, I could go on.

You should email NBC this -- this will maybe change their minds.

I hope so too. I'm really disappointed that it didn't get the post SB slot. Most people (that I've observed) don't actually watch the show that comes on afterward. They are talking, partying, getting ready to go home etc. They do look at it though. You want something to grab the attention of those hot-blooded male football fans who have been too busy to notice what else was on, or those women who will be missing the crazy costumes and handsome men from DWTS on Monday nights.

Here are your choices. The Office...

Hmmmm. I know which show I would have tried to grow an audience for.

At the present time, fewer NBC scripted shows is not what I'd call a negative development. Roll Eyes

Well fair enough, but I do watch a few NBC show like L&O and L&O:SUV. The rest well...I won't miss if the are canceled...

Yeah, and it would be doing even better if all the CBS affiliates would ever air the show. For the second week in a row it was preempted in St. Louis and Columbus, OH and a couple of other affiliates. Something about a CBS agreement where affiliates can show other programming at 8:00, and keep all the advertising income. It lost roughly 300,00-400,000 viewers in the finals the past two weeks with preemptions, while the other CBS sitcoms all aired in all markets. It would easily be CBS's second most viewed sitcom if the it ever had full coverage from all affiliates.

Worst Week has not grown an inch. It has the exact same 65% retention from Two and a Half Men. Men has grown since DWTS left the time slot, and WW has picked up 65% of Men's increase. The raw numbers for the 9:30 sitcom mean nothing. It is all about retention from Men, and 65% is still bad.

If both L&O's are designated as 9 PM shows, then you are right, they don't need both at the same time. However, they are some of the top dramas on NBC so NBC would have to find something that can match those ratings.

With DOND, NBC is planning on resting it in the spring. I think if Howie Do It hits, HDI and DOND will share a timeslot in the future.

yeah, the preemptions definitely hurt it. I still think it is at this point CBS's #2 sitcom. It's already got Worst Week outbeat this season, and while How I Met Your Mother comes close, BBT easily outshines it in quality and creativity. CBS should be more than proud of this show.

I agree with most of your list. I'd place Medium on the bubble list. NBC has always had a weird relationship with that show.

Shows that are safe next year on NBC IMO:
*Law and Order: SVU
*The Biggest Loser
*The Office
*30 Rock (NBC needs to get over this show)
*Deal or No Deal
*Medium
*Dateline
*America's Got Talent (Summer)

Bubble:
*Law and Order
*Heroes
*Life
*My Name is Earl

Cancelled:
*All shows that were already announced
*Kath and Kim
*Knight Rider
*Chuck

I totally agree with you, BBT is the best comedy on CBS. Why is this show less promoted than the awful Worse Week is beyond me.

Comments like this always amaze me in their stupidity. I'm sure whether or not "Law & Order" breaks the record 20 season run of "Gunsmoke" is not being discussed in the executive suite at NBC. At the end of the day, does anyone really care if "Law" beats "Gunsmoke"? It is an arbitrary record anyway, since "Law" would probably have to run for 10 more seasons to eclipse "Gunsmoke" in terms of episodes produced.

Actually, since "Gunsmoke" ran for 20 seasons and "Law & Order" is in its 19th season, it would actually have to run for two more seasons to overtake the long-running Western.

NBC is about spending as little money as possible while still providing entertainment, not satisfying an overrated producers outsized ego.

NBC has definitely shafted Medium over the years - this season, for example. The show is a ratings winner for NBC, always manages to perform well, yet its not premiering its 5th season until February. What's the sense in that? No wonder NBC is struggling.

I think, though, that NBC wouldn't be stupid enough to cancel this show. It'll likely be back next season, and it could benefit from airing at an earlier hour.

Because the CBS powers-that-be love Worst Week, which explains why it is still on the air in the first place. And Worst Week has actually grown a bit over the last few weeks, so it may be around for awhile longer.

Definitely - it's the best and also the most creative. It's hard to come across an original show nowadays, but BBT definitely does it. I don't understand the little promotion for it, either. It's grown an audience this season faster than Heroes has lost theres-LOL
