I agree. I think NBC is restructuring, and cutting costs. I think they keep their top few shows, and basically get rid of the bombs and most of the bubble shows, and start over with new shows and some of their better shows. With less hours to program I think they get rid of any higher cost shows and other marginal shows.

I think a likely scenario is 8 PM being reality shows or cheaper comedies Monday through Friday and then the more expensive dramas at 9 PM.

You know, I seem to recall getting royally blasted here when I suggested lead-OUTS can in some cases hurt or help their lead-INS. Can I take this as your admission I was completely right, Zitrone?

Huh no, Fringe doesn't hurt House because of it is the lead-out (though it sure doesn't help it either). But keeping Fringe there forces FOX to move its only hit drama to three different timeslots in less than a year, and it is down almost 5 million since last year.

The L&O franchise is very lucrative worldwide, and I think both series have already been renewed for next year. Maybe Medium will go, though it is still doing relatively well.

But it seems to me new shows like Chuck or Life are in bigger danger than the veterans.

Doesn't Sarah have a loyal audience? Could it be it'll do as well (if you can call this well) on Friday as Monday? What's the percentage of DVRing for this show?

Personally I don't really care, as I assume that if Sarah's cancelled, Fox will find something else for Summer Glau. I can't imagine any other reason for watching this current mess. But hey, that's me.

You mean the one with the exact same 18-49 rating as T:SCC, which we all know is doomed, but will go on producing eps for now?

Oh but that's DIFFERENT.

Roll Eyes

Exactly. Wonder what demos will SCC get on fridays

At the present time, fewer NBC scripted shows is not what I'd call a negative development. Roll Eyes

True, that.

WIth five fewer hours of the week to program, NBC will not need to have both Law & Order and SVU on the air at the same time. It may even want to consider resting Deal or No Deal.

Presumably, but since the ratings keep going down, nobody really knows how small it is yet. It's already way too small for FOX--it wouldn't be huge for the SciFi Channel (which couldn't afford the show, lest you ask).

You mean the percentage of people not watching the ads? Pretty high, but if all of them watched 'live', the ratings would still suck to hell.

Well, it's nice that you have your priorities in order, I guess. Roll Eyes

And this is actually the most successful project she's ever been in--so maybe it's HER.

But AFTER I brought it up, you couldn't resist going on about how much better it could do than the much more successful FOX genre show you hate. I provided the straw, but you actually stuffed it into the same old worn-out clothes. Big Grin

You said it was insane that NBC continues to air MOWE, in spite of the horrible ratings. And I simply asked how it was less insane for FOX to continue producing new episodes of a show that gets basically the same ratings, and will get even lower ratings when they move it to Friday. That's not a straw man argument. That's what is known as a 'salient point'. Wink

And it couldn't be some people are just getting tired of House? Desperate Housewives has kept its timeslot, and it still loses audience year after year. In any event, we've been over this--they can't keep House on forever, because they can't replace the lead, and the lead won't stay on indefinitely. So they had to gamble. But if Fringe was a bad gamble, they can cancel it. I promise not to send them any fringed garments in protest. What are you planning to send FOX when SCC goes down? Big Grin

The rule of thumb for you seems to be "If I like the show, it can only be the network's fault that the ratings are down. If I hate the show, it can only be the show's fault that the ratings are down."

At least you're consistent about that.

Wink

And FOX sure is to blame for its falling ratings on Tuesdays. It bet everything on Fringe, and it just didn't work. Sure it will do fine after AI; even TD and B2U did OK. But it will never be enough of a hit to justify the costs.

NBC already is resting DOND this season. They announced that a while ago. You'll also notice its not on their midseason schedule. NBC should allow Law and Order to break Gunsmoke's record. To me it would be a good 8pm hour show to lead into something like the new LAPD. What could just as well get cut is Chuck, Life, My Name is
Earl, 30 Rock, Kath and Kim, and anything lower rated than them. They could have a veteran lead off or air on every night of the week with these moves: Medium and Heroes on Mondays, Biggest Loser and SVU on Tuesdays, Law and Order on Wed., The Office and perhaps one of the other comedies on Thursday, and Dateline or maybe the new Howie Do It on Fridays. Saturdays could be Most Outrageous Moments and another 2 hour Dateline. Sundays could feature the Apprentice and newer shows after football is over.

Then Fringe will be canceled--but not before PD, ES, T:SCC, and a whole bunch of far less successful shows that weren't worth the money.

You're so much fun.

Unfortunatley the ratings may be tired for PRISON BREAK but creativly if you check message boars like TWOP its one of the most popular seasons since Season One.

And no series on prime time does cliffhangers before commercials like PRISON BREAK...no one!

That's actually not even true. Prison Break used to get 20+ pages of discussion on TWOP in Season Two (and even more during Season One). Now it's getting... 7 pages at best. So, don't talk about it being popular these days... it's never been this unpopular (at least not on TWOP).

For the 11th episode of Prison Break's 4th season, TWOP had 5 pages of discussion. Compare that to Lost's 11th episode of it's 4th season, which got 44 pages of discussion. That tells a story!

Okay, I know this is stupid, but I HHHHHHHHHHATE this season of Prison Break (have hated the show since it got shitty midway to Season Two) and I can't stand people calling it good. Big Grin I always have to go out of my way to prove that it SUCKS. Big Grin
