February 20 Boston Legal A18-49: 2.6/ 7 Viewers: 9.39 million
IS BL in Big Trouble??? Perhaps this IS the mystery "hit" that will be canceled
Funny, I thought just the opposite. They couldn't have promoted that news special any more than they did. I must have seen dozens of commericals for it, as opposed to one or two ten second clips in promotion of Boston Legal on a weekly basis. Considering the promotion and subject matter of last night's special, I thought it would do a lot better than it did. I think with SVU springing a leak and BL getting DWTS as a lead in next month, Boston Legal may break out some and be in fine shape for next season.

Well, to be fair to "Boston Legal", the Woodruff special was fairly high-profile - it's not too surprising that it slightly outrated BL. And BL has done a decent job keeping the lights on for ABC on a night when the network is otherwise in total collapse. It usually doubles whatever low-rated lead-in it has.
I did read that Mark Valley is attached to a fall pilot, but I thought that was more because he has been so underused on BL. Then again, BL can't be cheap to produce, between salaries of James Spader, Candice Bergen, and William Shatner.
I'd be sorry to see BL go. It's uneven, and the tone is all over the place, but it's frequently very funny and the performances are generally topnotch. Aside from Valley's underuse, they need to give Rene Auberjonois more to do - he was excellent when Paul was mentoring Clarence and sparring with Bethany a few weeks ago.

But if it is a show that can only perform well with a BIG lead-in, Why Keep It. ABC could do that with a new, cheaper show... like an ABC New Special

I think it will continue to thrive as families will watch together. I am not married and have no kids but I can picture folks with kids watching. As far as the questions, I thought they were more geared towards stuff the kids just learned (ie: the triangle question)whereas adults would have forgotten it by now. quote: Originally posted by healingbuddy: I didn't watch Idol or Fifth grader last night. In fact, I rarely watch Idol. Just surprised at how many people hung around to watch that game show. The intelligence of America keeps going down literally. Just wondering how many Americans failed the game show. That must be embarrassing. And since I used to teach fourth grade (for 10 years--and never got promoted to the fifth grade--LOL!!!) I may not have passed it either--except I may have insider information.

I doubt it would go well without Idol.
im predicting the show falls big time tonight...as for svu...it was up against weak competition and did almost as bad as a repeat last year...the 2 hour block is hurting this show...they need to move CI and quick, or they may have 1 more l&o's in trouble...by the way...tuesdays at 10pm are looking wide open arent they?

I think it is Jericho. I was just looking at the Demos on Jericho before it went on hiatus. It started off well, but then its numbers dropped to what would be acceptable for Friday night (VEGAS LIKE) but not for Wednesday at 9:00PM. It was like 2.7. CBS has had problems with Wednesadays at 9. They tried comedy for a while. Did not work. The Friday night slot did well over the years with CSI, then JAG, now CTH. CTH is JB's favorite show according to an interview he gave. So since JB owns 7 hours of prime time on CBS, I don't think CBS is gonna mess with him by cancelling CTH. JMHO.

You must remember the "Unan1mous Rule"- a 30 minute show after AI always does great. Plus you have all the suspense on the "Is Antonella going ot withdraw or sing?" tonight- Which of course means they will put her last in either case (so they can milk it for the whole 90 minutes)..

Nope, according to Ausiello, one of the following shows is very likely to be cancelled: Close To Home, The Unit and Jericho.

I was a little suprised how well the Criminal Minds repeat did at 10pm. quote: 10pm - Criminal Minds (Repeat) - 6.9/11 HH, 3.1/8 A18-49, 10.521 million viewers
That is better than the CSI: Miami from last week. in fact, it did put a decent challenge to a NEW L&O:SVU. Perhaps that Post Super Bowl airing is paying off a little.

Oh my. Seriously, with the Fox numbers? Geez! Why did people watch that! I thought it would do much worse than it did; I guess I was wrong. LOL. Jeff Foxworthy is okay, but there are many people I would rather watch than him; IMO, he was the worst of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (funny, at times, but not laugh-out-loud funny, for me anyway). Yeah, I guess we'll see how it goes. I just can't believe it had almost the same amount of viewers as AI, which in itself is an enigma. WARNING: slight Veronica Mars discussion below! And 5th Grader still murdered Veronica Mars; mystery solved. LOL. Damn. I was hoping for a spike in the ratings this week, and there WAS a definite one (400,000 viewers, or so), but not nearly big enough. I never actually thought it WOULD be, though. I guess the last five episodes WILL be the deciding factor. They'll need much stronger signs of life for VM to get its wrap-up season that I want. Just one more, 13 episodes, tops! Thanks for posting these, Travis!
