The interesting this is that, after watching my DVRed VM, I watched DVRed Gilmore Girls. And there was not ONE promo for VM during the hour. It was ALL about Top Model and Pussycat Dolls. Not. A. Single. One. For. V. M.

The show actually did a very good job of explaining everything in the first two minutes to viewers who hadn't watched the arc, and for the first time in an arc-ender, the true answer wasn't figured out (at least in the show) until the final minutes AND Veronica's life wasn't put in danger because she figured it out. Her confrontation with the murdered was fantastically played out.

The O'Dell murder mystery wasn't as interesting as it ought to have been, and meant less to viewers than it should've. The main problem was the it was Keith's case until this episode. Even though Veronica liked the Dean and he (apparently) liked her, it was all about Keith for the investigation part of this arc until the end.

A very nice non-cliffhanger ending, too.

And given the complete lack of promotion this "end of arc" episode received (versus the huge push for "Spit & Eggs"), any uptick is a good sign. Seriously, there was no promotion whatsoever.

Tend to your hospitalized family member. Hope all turns out well, pisher.

Hi Pisher, and my best wishes for a speedy recovery for your relative.

I have posted weekly numbers for MNT down in the folder Marc kindly set up for us devoted followers of the telenovellas. Here is a precis of a recent posting I made down there.

The numbers come from the CAB website. MNT season-to-date is 0.6HH and 1% share, and the Nielsens for Wicked Wicked Games / Watch Over Me indicate that they've settled in at the 0.5HH, 0.3 A18-49 1% share levels:

I still haven't been able to learn on which nights MNT is strongest or weakest.

I also saw in several articles that each hour of telenovella serial costs $200K to produce ($13 million for a season of 65 episodes) vs. the more typical $2-4MM for network dramas. They are produced using Dogme-like production techniques that have actors compressing all their scenes into limited shooting days. And a chunk of coin is reserved for a few name stars to headline the show (Ms. Tatum O'Neal, Ms. Bo Derek, Mr. Casper Van Dien, etc.).

The Wicked Wicked Games serial has only five more episodes left (a global recap will be aired this Friday at 8 pm), and it's building towards a slam-bam-thank-you-mam type finish for Blythe Hunter, who makes Lady MacBeth seem to be a kindly old auntie by comparison.

Well, to be specific it means some people will come back for the end of an arc, even if they weren't interested enough to stick around for the middle of it.

Precisely what I was wondering. People came in for Spit and Eggs - the end of first arc. They came in for this episode with lame title - end of arc. Now there won't be anymore arcs and THAT is supposed to be improvement? In last four episodes, too, when viewers are more or less set in viewing habits? Maybe it will work, dunno. *shrugs*
And what, Veronica will be investigating new murder or rape every episode now? Girl in college? Isn't it a bit ridiculous? Maybe her dad will involve her in investigation but isn't it a bit illegal? Questions, questions.

Uh-huh. Except when you're premise is about competing against 10-year-olds in what essentially is a competition about the ability to recall rather than intelligence, contestants from Mensa probably would not work well.

Weren't people watching by the dozens when Ken Jennngs was on Jeopardy? And didn't Who Wants to Be a Millionaire get its highest ratngs when the first guy won a million dollars? I'm convinced that the only way for a show to work is to have the best contestants on it. If the best contestants are on a show and it still fails, then the show was doomed from the start. Having mediocre contestants on game shows does nothing for no one!

If by "no promotion", you mean "not enough promotion", that's totally subjective--they could blanket the airwaves, and people would still complain it wasn't promoted, because the ratings would still stink, and you guys just don't want to admit it's the SHOW that most people don't like, never did like, and never will like.

But seriously--not ONE commercial?

Either you're exaggerating, or CW is more fed up with VM than I thought.
